Influence of Particle and Filter Charge on Filtration Property of Air Filter under Particle Loading (입자 및 필터 대전상태에 따른 입자부하조건에서 공기정화 필터의 여과특성)

  • As soon as a new air filter is applied to an air purification process, the filter gets loaded with dust particles. Thus, the study on the particle loading characteristics of air filter is very essential in order to understand the real filtration phenomena during filter use. In this study, we investigated the effect of particle and filter charge on the particle loading property of air filter. Charged filter and uncharged filter prepared by discharging the charged filter by isopropyl alcohol were used as test samples, and three types of particle having different charge states were supplied to filters tested. For neutralized particles there was a big difference in areal mass loading rates between charged and uncharged filters due to the very small amount of particle charge, on the other hand the difference was diminished for atomized particle and finally almost vanished for corona charged particles. The pressure drop of filter loaded with corona charged particles was only half of those for neutralized and atomized particles at the same areal mass loading because of the porous structure of particle deposit formed on filter fibers, caused by the space charge effect between particles.

  • In this paper, we introduce the notion of a positive implicative filter in BE-algebras. We show that every positive implicative filter is a filter in BE-algebras. We give some examples that a filter may not be a positive implicative filter and also a positive implicative filter may be not an implicative filter in BE-algebras. We also give some equivalent conditions of a positive implicative filter in BE-algebras.

  • We show that if an even length filter has the same length complementary filter in a generalized linear phase case, the complementary filter is unique, we find sufficient conditions for a unique existence of even length N complementary filter in a quadrature mirror filter bank, and we find all higher degree symmetric filters of length N + 4m which are complementary to a given symmetric filter of even length N.

Robust Wavelet Kalman Filter

  • Since Kalman filter and wavelet transform techniques are both suitable for a nonstationary process, wavelet-Kalman filter was proposed and applied to various industrial fields. However, the wavelet-Kalman filter subjected to model uncertainty with nonstationary process has not been considered. Thus, the robust wavelet-Kalman filter method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method can prevent the degradation of filter performance when parameter uncertainty exists in both the state and measurement matrices and preserve the merits of the standard Kalman filter in the sense that it produces optimal estimates. A simple example shows that the proposed approach outperforms the standard Kalman filter and the nominal wavelet-Kalman filter.

Federated Information Mode-Matched Filters in ACC Environment

  • In this paper, a target tracking algorithm for tracking maneuvering vehicles is presented. The overall algorithm belongs to the category of an interacting multiple-model (IMM) algorithm used to detect multiple targets using fused information from multiple sensors. First, two kinematic models are derived: a constant velocity model for linear motions, and a constant-speed turn model for curvilinear motions. Fpr the constant-speed turn model, a nonlinear information filter is used in place of the extended Kalman filter. Being equivalent to the Kalman filter (KF) algebraically, the information filter is extended to N-sensor distributed dynamic systems. The model-matched filter used in multi-sensor environments takes the form of a federated nonlinear information filter. In multi-sensor environments, the information-based filter is easier to decentralize, initialize, and fuse than a KF-based filter. In this paper, the structural features and information sharing principle of the federated information filter are discussed. The performance of the suggested algorithm using a Monte Carlo simulation under the two patterns is evaluated.

Model based optimal FIR synthesis filter for a nosy filter bank system

  • In this paper, a new multirate optimal finite impulse response (FIR) filter is proposed for the signal reconstruction in the nosy filter bank systems. The multirate optimal FIR filter replaces the conventional synthesis filters and the Kalman synthesis filter. First, the generic linear model is derived from the multirate state space model for an autoregressive (AR)input signal. Second, the multirate optimal FIR filter is derived from the multirate generic linear model using the minimum variance criterion. This paper also provides numerical examples and results. The simulation results illustrate that the performance is improved compared with conventional synthesis filters and the proposed filter has advantages over the Kalman synthesis filter.

Characteristics of High-Rate Filtration with Filtration Aids (급속여과공정에서의 여과보조제 사용에 따른 여과특성)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of filter aids in the dual-media rapid filtration. Paper-filter tests were conducted to determine the proper dosages of coagulant and filter aid, and pilot plant tests using two dual-media filter columns were performed for a variety of filtration rates. Using a filter aid (non-ionic polymer), the maximum feasible filtration rate is 480m/day, while turbidity is less than 0.3 NTU and filter run-time is about 70 hours. It is possible to increase the filtration rate up to 360 m/day for keeping the turbidity less than 0.1 NTU. Turbidity increases for the filtration rate greater than 360m/day. In general, the quality of filtered water with a filter aid is stable, while the filter maintains a sufficient filter run-time for a maximum allowable head loss. Particularly, the initial breakthrough can be effectively controlled. The use of a filter aid may be one of the methods applicable if the turbidity of filtered water is required to be improved or if the filter breakthrough limits filter run-time.

A Tracking Algorithm for Autonomous Navigation of AGVs: Federated Information Filter

  • In this paper, a tracking algorithm for autonomous navigation of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) operating in container terminals is presented. The developed navigation algorithm takes the form of a federated information filter used to detect other AGVs and avoid obstacles using fused information from multiple sensors. Being equivalent to the Kalman filter (KF) algebraically, the information filter is extended to N-sensor distributed dynamic systems. In multi-sensor environments, the information-based filter is easier to decentralize, initialize, and fuse than a KF-based filter. It is proved that the information state and the information matrix of the suggested filter, which are weighted in terms of an information sharing factor, are equal to those of a centralized information filter under the regular conditions. Numerical examples using Monte Carlo simulation are provided to compare the centralized information filter and the proposed one.

On the Use of Pre=-and Post-Filters in Speech Waveform Coding (PRE-FILTER와 POST-FILTER를 사용하여 음성파형 부호화 방법에 관하여)

  • 이 논문에서는 frequency-weighted MSE를 최소화하는 적응 pre-filter와 post-filter를 음성파형 부호화기에 적용했을 때의 성능을 분석한다. 먼저 여러 다양한 pre-filter와 post-filter에 의한 noise shaping 효과를 이론적으로 보여준다. 그리고 frequency-weighted SNR 척도를 사용하여 적응 pre-filter 와 post filter에 의한 성능면에서의 이득을 이론적으로 유도한다. 적응 pre-filter와 post-filter를 ADM과 ADPCM 부호화기에 적용해본 결과에 의하면 음성파형 부호화기의 성능을 FWSNR\sub SEG\ 척도로 약 3dB 정도 개선할 수 있음을 알 수있다. 또한 pre-filter와 post-filter를 사용하면 청각적으로 중요한 영향을 미치는 1kHz에서 3kHz 사이의 양자화 잡음을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we propose a new Active Noise Filter Control System which operate as a control performance when a adaptive filter fault. In this system, half-fixed filter which is new filter, connected to parallel with adaptive filter. An adaptive filler use to continuous parameter estimating, but adaptive filter is fault, half-fixed filter update newly data which is continuous estimating date each during sampling period. We simulate and apply the proposed active noise filter system to in the cylinder type duct. Experimental results show that proposed Active Noise Filter Control System has better control performance than existing filter which Eriksson's or Parallel Filter System in term of noise reduction.
