  • In this paper, a vehicle detection algorithm with HD CCTV camera images using GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) algorithm and mathematical morphological processing is proposed. At the first stage, background could be estimated using GMM from CCTV input image signal and then object could be separated from difference image of the input image and background image. At the second stage, candidated object were reformed by using mathematical morphological processing. Finally, vehicle object could be detected using vehicle size informations depend on distance and vehicle type in tunnel. Through real experiments in tunnel, it is shown that the proposed system works well.

  • In this paper,I present an extended two-level model using LR parsing techniques. The LR-based two-level model not only guarantees effcient morphological processing but also achieves a higher degree of descriptive adequacy than Koskenniemi's original model. The two-level model is augmented with an independent morphosyntactic module based on feature-based CF word grammar.By adopting a CF word grammar, our model is capable of dealing with complex words with discontinuous dependencies without having duplicate lexicons. It is shown how LR predictions manifested in the parsing table can help the morphological processor to minimize the dictionary lookup process.

  • This paper proposes a new method for the number recognition on dot matrix LED display. The proposed method uses morphological processing that dilates dots of numbers and connects the dots into strokes. The size of numbers is normalized using horizontal projection because the gaps of dots are different according to the size of numbers. The numbers are segmented by connected component analysis and finally, template matching method recognizes the segmented numbers. The proposed method is implemented using C language in Raspberry Pi system with a camera module for a real-time image processing. Experiments were conducted by using various dot matrix LED displays. The results show that the proposed method is successful for the number recognition on dot matrix LED display.

  • The paper deals with experimental results which was performed to investigate the characteristics of Korean lexical processing and representation of morphemes involved in Korean noun and verb Eojeols. The investigation is also related with the 'English past tense debate' which deals with human mental computation. Experiments using fMRI methods, show that Korean noun Eojeols and both regular and irregular verb Eojeols show a similar activation pattern. Thus, the results indicate that the morphological processing in Korean noun and verb Eojeols are performed quite differently than the Indo-European morphological processing.

  • This paper proposes computer visual inspection algorithms for various LCD defects which are found in a manufacturing process. Modular vision processing steps are required in order to detect different types of LCD defects. Those key modules include RGB filtering for pixel defects, gray-scale morphological processing and Hough transform for line defects, and adaptive threshold for spot defects. The proposed algorithms can give users detailed information on the type of defects in the LCD panel, the size of defect, and its location. The machine vision inspection system is implemented using C language in an embedded Linux system for a high-speed real-time image processing. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithms are quite successful.

  • This study investigates morphologically complex nouns in Korean through a series of priming studies. Two experiments examined whether morphological affixes on Korean nouns were decomposed or processed as a whole. Two types of morphological affixes were examined: morpho-syntactic case markers and the plural marker '-tul'. Results showed that priming occurred for the plural marker with SOAs of 80 ms and 160 ms, but no priming occurred for the morpho-syntactic case markers. These results suggest that the morphological processing for these two types of affixes differ. We argue that Korean nouns with the plural suffix are decomposed into the stem and affix, supporting the Decomposition Model (Pinker & Ullman, 2002). We suggest that while plural markers are truly morphological affixes, case markers in Korean are morpho-syntactic, and thus presuppose the existence of other syntactic elements, such as the matrix verb, hence the lack of priming effects.

  • Though median filter is used for removing noise and smoothing image. But, the result of it has distortion around edge. And then, this paper proposes new noise removing algorithm by recursive morphological processing. Basic operation is same each other, but there is some different processing method between recursive morphology and general morphology theory. This recursive morphological filter can be viewed as the weighted order static filter, and then it has a weighted SE(structuring element). Especially using this algorithm to remove the 10% gaussian noise, this paper confirmed that PSNR is improved about 0.642~1.5757 db reserving edge well better than the results of the traditional median filter.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for real-time lane detecting against luminance variation using morphological image processing and edge-based region segmentation. In order to apply the most appropriate threshold value, the adaptive threshold was used in every frame, and perspective transform was applied to correct image distortion. After that, we designated ROI for detecting the only lane and established standard to limit region of ROI. We compared performance about the accuracy and speed when we used morphological method and do not used. Experimental result showed that the proposed algorithm improved the accuracy to 98.8% of detection rate and speed of 36.72ms per frame with the morphological method.

  • In this paper, we propose a bone region extraction method using a snake algorithm and a particle filter in CT image. We extract the bone outline using the snake algorithm, and extract the bone area by moving the particle filter along this outline. If other bones are in close proximity to the bone outline, the snake algorithm may not be able to extract the bone outline completely. At this time, the particle filter extracts the bone area while compensating for the error. In this paper, we compared the proposed method with the conventional morphological processing method. The result is similar when other bones are not close to the bone area to be extracted. However, if other bones are close to each other, The accuracy of the proposed method is higher than the conventional morphological processing method.
