아노다이징된 알루미늄 합금에 대한 TiAlN 코팅, 무전해 Ni-P 도금의 트라이볼로지 특성 비교 (A Comparative Study on Tribological Characteristics between Ni-P Electroless Plating and TiAlN Coating on Anodized Aluminum Alloy)

  • A ceramic coating is a surface treatment method that is being used widely in the industrial field, recently. Ni-P plating is also being used widely because of its corrosion resistance and low cost. An anodizing method is applicable to aluminum alloy. An anodizing method generates a thick oxide layer on the surface and then, that heightens hardness and protects the surface. These surface treatments are applied to various mechanical components and treated surfaces relatively move one another. In this study, tribological characteristics of Ni-P plating and TiAlN coating on anodized Al alloy are compared. The counterpart, anodized Al alloy, is worn out abrasively by Ni-P plating and TiAlN coating that have higher hardness. Abrasively worn debris accumulated on the surfaces of Ni-P plating and TiAlN coating, and then transferred layer is formed. This transferred layer affects the amplitude of variation of friction coefficient, which is related to noise and vibration. The amplitude of variation of friction coefficient of Ni-P plating is lower than those of TiAlN coating during the tests.

  • For enhanced cavitation erosion resistance of vessel propellers, an electroless Ni-P plating method was introduced to form a coating layer with high hardness on the surface of Cu alloy (CAC703C) used as vessel propeller material. An electroless Ni-P plating reaction generated by Fe atoms in the Cu alloy occurred, forming a uniform amorphous layer with P content of ~10 wt%. The amorphous layer transformed to (Ni3P+Ni) two phase structure after heat treatment. Cavitation erosion tests following the ASTM G-32 standard were carried out to relate the microstructural changes by heat treatment and the cavitation erosion resistance in distilled water and 3.5 wt% NaCl solutions. It was possible to obtain excellent cavitation erosion resistance through careful microstructural control of the coating layer, demonstrating that this electroless Ni-P plating process is a viable coating process for the enhancement of the cavitation erosion resistance of vessel propellers.

  • 알루미늄 박막 커패시터 제작을 위해 선택적인 알루미늄 etching과 anodizing을 이용한 유전체($Al_2O_3$) 형성, 전극층 형성을 위한 무전해 Ni-P 도금을 진행하였다. $5{\mu}m$ patterns/$10{\mu}m$ space를 가지는 dot patterns을 알루미늄 기판에 patterning하고, 이를 각각의 전류밀도 조건에서 etching한 후, barrier type anodizing을 진행하였다. 유전체에 전극층은 무전해 Ni-P 도금을 통해 형성하였으며, 이렇게 제작된 알루미늄 박막 커패시터 특성을 평가하였다.

  • Mold die sticking arises from silica filler abrasion to the cavity surface. Ni-P electroplating was examined to substitute conventional hard Cr plating. More than 4% of Phosphorus in the electroplated film produces nano crystal structure and annealing makes $Ni_3P$ precipitated to get hardness values equivalent to hard Cr.

자동차 시트용 탄소섬유 발열체의 전기적 및 저항 발열 특성 (Electrical and Resistance Heating Properties of Carbon Fiber Heating Element for Car Seat)

  • 본 연구에서는 무전해 니켈 도금 시간을 달리하여 제조한 자동차 시트용 탄소섬유 발열체의 발열 및 전기적 특성에 관하여 고찰하였다. 무전해 니켈 도금된 탄소섬유의 비저항 및 비열은 4-point probe method 및 differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)를 이용하여 분석하였으며, 표면 형상 및 표면 온도는 scanning electron microscope (SEM) 및 열화상 카메라를 이용하여 관찰하였다. 실험 결과, 도금시간의 증가에 따라 니켈 도금 두께 및 표면 온도는 증가하였으며, 반면에 비열 및 비저항은 도금시간이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 결과적으로 무전해 니켈 도금은 자동차 시트용 탄소섬유 발열체의 저항 발열 및 전기적 특성을 크게 향상시키는 것으로 판단된다.

  • General fuse elements of solution for fast acting operation characteristics made using silver or silver alloy, those are not able to dominate cost competition to the advanced global leaders that have not only high technology but competitive price. In this study, the method that compose the fuse elements manufactured solution of fast acting operation characteristics by using precision multi-layer thin film plating and helical cutting process from low-priced copper metal. Furthermore, in order to move rated current line of fuse due to the heat loses, the manufacture construction method of fixed resistor is introduced, and then Ni-P plating layer and Sn plating layer are introduced multiply for controling fine opening time characteristics. So this study can establish the high productive and low-priced production method.

무전해 Ni-P도금층/WC-Co기판 상에 다이아몬드 막 제조 (Diamond Films on Electroless Ni-P Plated WC-Co Substrates)

  • 초경공구(WC-Co)의 성능 향상을 목적으로 고경도, 높은 열전도도의 특성 등을 가진 다이아몬드 막을 코팅하고 있으나 WC-Co 기판표면의 특성상 문제점으로 인하여 코팅의 어려움이 있다. 이 문제의 해결을 위하여 WC-Co기판위에 중간층을 도입한 후 다이아몬드 막을 증착시키는 새로운 방법을 고려하였으며 중간층의 제조에 무전해 Ni-P도금법을 사용하였다. 무전해도금을 위한 WC-Co기판의 전처리, 무전해도금 및 열처리, 다이아몬드 막 증착의 공정에 대하여 조사하였다. 형성되는 계면의 구조와 성분, 계면간의 밀착력 등을 Scratch Tester, Roughness Tester, SEM/EDS, XRD, Raman Spectroscopy를 사용하여 분석하였다. 무전해도금의 전처리로서 산에 의한 방법과 다이아몬드 분말에 의한 방법을 사용하였으며 두 경우에 모두 WC-Co기판의 표면조도의 감소, 표면 Co성분의 감소, 그리고 밀착력 저하가 관찰되었다. 무전해도금층의 열처리시 영향을 조사하였으며 온도 증가에 따라 Ni 결정이 형성되며 이로 인하여 도금의 밀착력이 증가되며 Ni 결정이 성장함을 관찰하였다. 또한 열처리된 Ni-P도금 위에서 다이아몬드막 증착 실험을 실시하였으며 증착온도를 증가시킴에 따라 다이아몬드 형성이 증가되어 $800^{\circ}C$일때 양호한 다이아몬드 막을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구의 방법 및 실험조건은 WC-Co를 비롯하여 다이아몬드 막 형성이 어려운 소재들의 코팅에 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다.

Catalytic NiO Filter Supported on Carbon Fiber for Oxidation of Volatile Organic Compounds

  • Carbon-fiber-supported NiO catalytic filters for oxidation of volatile organic compounds were prepared by electroless Ni-P plating and subsequent annealing processes. Surface structure and crystallinity of NiO film on carbon fiber could be modified by post-annealing at different temperatures (500 and $650^{\circ}C$). Catalytic thermal decompositions of toluene over these catalytic filters were investigated. $500^{\circ}C$-annealed sample showed a higher catalytic reactivity toward toluene decomposition than $650^{\circ}C$-annealed one under same conditions, despite of its lower surface area and toluene adsorption capacity. X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies suggest that amorphous structures of NiO on $500^{\circ}C$-annealed catalyst caused the higher reactivity for oxidation of toluene than that of $650^{\circ}C$-annealed sample with a higher crystallinity.

복합 착화제 첨가가 무전해 Ni-P 도금액의 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Multi-Complex Agent Addition on Characteristics of Electroless Ni-P Solution)

  • In this study, the effects of multi-complex agents addition on characteristics of electroless Ni plating solution are investigated. The species and the concentration of complexing agents are major factors to control the deposition rate, P concentration, and surface morphology of plating films. Adipic acid increases the deposition rate in regardless of single- or mutli-complex agent addition. However, lactic acid effectively increases the deposition rate in case of multi-addition as the complex agents with adipic or sodium succinate acid. In addition, sodium citric acid and malic acid show good stabilizing effects of plating solution and lowering the deposition rate, because they have high complexibility. Therefore, it is suggested that the development of Ni-P plating solution suitable for diverse usages can be carried out systematically using the database from this study.
