Abstract

In this study, more than 1000 experimental data, between 1980 and 2010 in Japan, on unit weight and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete, i.e. splitting tensile strength, modulus of rupture and dynamic modulus of elasticity, were investigated and analyzed statistically. Both recycled aggregates types and recycled aggregate ratio were considered as a significant factor which had a considerable effect on the mechanical properties and the unit weight of recycled aggregate concrete. As a result, practical and universal formulas for predicting tensile splitting strength, flexural strength and dynamic modulus of elasticity were proposed, which was applied to recycled aggregate concrete with compressive strength range from 20 MPa to 60 MPa.
