작은도서관 순회사서 운영에 관한 연구

A Study on the Itinerant Librarian at Small Libraries

초록

2010년부터 시작된 '순회사서 지원 사업'은 작은도서관의 업무 지원과 공공도서관과의 협력체계 구축을 목적으로 하고 있다. 하지만 사업 5년차에 접어드는 시점에서, 소기의 성과에 대한 긍정적 평가와 함께, 문제점에 대한 비판이 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 현단계 순회사서제도의 문제점을 분석하고 개선방안을 제시하는데 목적을 둔다. 선행연구의 분석을 바탕으로 한 이론 연구를 통해 순회사서의 개념과 등장배경을 살피고, 순회사서제도 분석과 관련 참여자 면담을 통해 순회사서에 대한 낮은 인식, 사업의 비연속성, 순회사서의 고용불안정 등 문제점들을 도출하였다. 결론에 갈음하여, 순회사서제도의 개선방안으로 순회사서사업의 연속성 보장, 순회사서의 고용안정, 업무 체계 정비, 순회사서를 대상으로 하는 실무교육, 참여도서관 점검체계, 지방자치단체의 자발적 노력 등을 제시한다.

Since 2010, the itinerant librarian project has aimed to support small libraries and to establish cooperative systems between public libraries and small libraries. However, the project has been criticized for several issues, although there are some positive evaluations. In this context this study aims to analyze various issues of the project and to provide alternative strategies. Based on analyzing previous studies the study discusses the concept and social background of itinerant librarians. Furthermore, it explores the issues of the project, including low awareness and employment instability of itinerant librarians through the interviews with participants of the project. As a result, the study provides six alternative strategies to improve the project.
