Abstract

The purpose of this study was to propose a synthetic envelope thermal performance for small-scale buildings to satisfy the building energy efficiency grade 1++, which is the standard for zero-energy building certification. It was found that the correlation between the average heat transmission rate by wall area and the heating energy demand was very low. And the correlation between the average heat transmission rate by floor area and the heating energy demand was very high. Therefore, it would be desirable to apply the average heat transmission rate by floor area as the synthetic envelope thermal performance. Design conditions for the primary energy consumption to be less than 140kWh/m2 should satisfy the average heat transmission rate by floor area of 0.45W/m2K or less, and install renewable energy when it exceeds 0.45W/m2K in the Jungbu 2 area
