Abstract

This study investigated the mediating effect of oral bad habits on the relationship between anxiety and oral symptoms in a sample of adults. The research aimed to identify the prevalence of anxiety among adults and to examine the relationships among anxiety, oral bad habits and oral symptoms. An online survey was conducted with 339 adult participants, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and Process Macro statistical programs. The results indicated that adults with moderate to severe anxiety exhibited higher levels of oral bad habits and oral symptoms. Furthermore, Anxiety showed an indirect positive effect on oral symptoms through oral bad habits. Based on the results, severe anxiety causes oral bad habits and oral bad habits leads to various oral symptoms, so the necessity of treatment and improvement of oral bad habits was discussed. Finally, this study provides significant theoretical and clinical evidence for establishing comprehensive treatment strategies that integrate adult mental health, oral health, and the management of oral bad habits.
