Bibliometric Analysis of Music and Nostalgia Research

노스탤지어(Nostalgia) 음악 연구의 계량서지학적 분석

This study examined the knowledge structure and research trends in music and nostalgia studies through bibliometric and content analyses of 203 international articles indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. Data were analyzed using WoS and VOSviewer, focusing on publication trends, disciplinary distribution, music genres, activity types, co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence networks, and temporal patterns. The results showed that this research field spans multiple disciplines, including music, cultural studies, humanities, communication, and experimental psychology, with popular music representing the largest genre category. Major activity types included passive listening, digital platform-based listening, therapeutic intervention, cultural memory and heritage activities, and participatory activities. Keyword analysis identified music, emotion, memory, autobiographical memory as major nodes, with recent attention shifting toward autobiographical memory, emotion regulation, health, well-being, and dementia. These findings indicate that music and nostalgia research has expanded into a multidisciplinary field encompassing psychological, sociocultural, media-related, and health-related perspectives. This study contributes to the field by providing a foundation for understanding the major trends in music and nostalgia research and exploring future research directions.

본 연구는 음악과 노스탤지어 연구의 지식 구조와 연구동향을 파악하기 위해 Web of Science Core Collection에 수록된 국외 학술 문헌 203편을 대상으로 계량서지학적 분석과 내용분석을 수행하였다. 자료분석은 WoS의 기본 분석 기능과 VOSviewer를 활용하였으며, 연도별 출판 동향, 학문 분야별 분포, 음악 장르 및 활동 유형, 저자·기관·국가 공저 네트워크, 키워드 동시출현 네트워크 및 시간적 분포를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 음악과 노스탤지어 연구는 music 분야를 중심으로 cultural studies, humanities, communication, experimental psychology 등 다양한 학문 분야에 분포하였으며, 장르별로는 popular music이 가장 높은 비중을 차지하였다. 활동 유형에서는 수동적 음악감상, 디지털 플랫폼 기반 청취, 치료적 중재, 문화기억 및 유산 활동, 참여·수행 활동이 주요 범주로 확인되었다. 키워드 동시출현 분석에서는 키워드 'music'을 중심으로 'emotion', 'memory', 'autobiographical memory' 등이 주요 노드로 나타났으며, 최근에는 자서전적 기억, 정서조절, 건강, 웰빙 및 치매 관련 주제로 연구 관심이 이동하는 양상이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 음악과 노스탤지어 연구가 개인의 심리적 경험을 넘어 사회문화적 맥락, 미디어 환경 및 건강·웰빙을 포괄하는 다학제적 연구 영역으로 확장되고 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 결과는 음악과 노스탤지어 연구의 주요 흐름을 종합적으로 이해하고 향후 연구 방향을 탐색하기 위한 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
