Control Method for Cut-out of Shorted Load in the Auxiliary Power Supply (보조전원장치의 단락부하 차단기 개방을 위한 제어방법)

  • This paper describes the control methods to cut out the NFB(No Fuse Breaker) of shorted load in the auxiliary power supply, Generally, when the short-circuit occurs in the load of the auxiliary power supply, the auxiliary power supply stops the operation according to the protection sequence. Finally, the other auxiliary power supply stops the operation by the same fault, To resolve this problem, we suggest the control method to trip the NFB of shorted load. That is, when the short circuit occurs, the controller changes control mode from voltage mode to current mode without the operation of output contactor(SIVK) in the auxiliary power supply. The auxiliary power supply provides a large current for the short-circuit load. After some time, the NFB of the short-circuit load is cut off and the auxiliary power supply Provides stable voltage for the loads except for the short-circuit load.

  • Auxiliary power supply for railway vehicle is a equipment that focuses on the service of passengers in a vehicle. It supplies power to controllers used in heating and cooling devices, fluorescent lamps, batteries and many other electrical equipments. Most of the auxiliary power supply for railway vehicle are mainly used for the round trips and circulation routes within the metropolitan area and have a capacity of 170~200 kVA. In this study, we developed the auxiliary power supply capacity to 240kVA for 200km/h class. As such, the auxiliary power supply is an important device for securing the reliability and safety of the railway vehicle and improving the passenger convenience, so the performance verification of the performance must be ensured. In this paper, 240kVA auxiliary power supply is developed. Also, performance of the auxiliary power supply manufactured through the analysis of various characteristics related to the auxiliary power supply was confirmed while operating the actual line.

  • The korea Electric Railway feeder voltage is DC 1500V and AC 250000V. The auxiliary power supply of the vehicle auxiliary power units for domestic electrical feed has been developed with domestic technology hyeonchae mounted station, and domestic uses, such as voltage, have been exported to other countries. However, do not use at domestic that can be used for DC 3000V voltage auxiliary power unit does not develop, vehicle exports global. This has already been replaced by imported products from other nations is a real situation. Thus, our auxiliary power unit for the DC 3000V was developed, it will be exported to Ukraine. In this paper, We introduced circuit and structure of developed auxiliary power supply unit, and verified the performance with output characteristic of the auxiliary power unit.

  • Power Car PC1 and PC2 of Korean high speed train have a auxiliary block which consists of two PWM converter respectively. If a auxiliary block happens a critical failure, the other supplies power to full load of train. In this case, a stability of auxiliary block reduces by a increasing load. For increasing a stability of auxiliary block and train system, a auxiliary block consists of two group four PWM converter which operates simultaneously. If a group of a auxiliary block happens a critical failure, the other supplies power to load of a auxiliary block. This paper describes a method for simultaneous movement of auxiliary block which consists of two group four PWM converter.

  • This paper presents a development of the auxiliary power supply simulator for a electric rolling stock. An auxiliary power supplies are required for operating air conditioning units, ventilation fans, lighting and battery charging. Traditionally this function has been fulfilled by Motor-Alternator sets. In recent years, high performance of semiconductor and micro processor, availability and price have made three phase voltage source inverters as an attractive alternative to MA Sets. From the baseline model of the SIV(Static InVerter) for electric rolling stock, we designed the scale down model of the auxiliary power supply simulator consisting of an IGBT three phase voltage source inverter. The auxiliary power supply simulator can be used educatory purpose for training efficiently about operating principles of SIV.

  • This paper is Instant space vector PWM(Pulse Width Modulation)power conversion devices in switching power semiconductors from my generation to losses and switching when the voltage surge and current surge of electronic noise(EMI: Electro Magnetic Interference / RFI: Radio Frequency Interference)to effectively minimize the power soft-switching power conversion circuit topologies of auxiliary resonant DC tank for the purpose of high performance realization of the electric power conversion system by the high-speed switching of a semiconductor device(AQRDCT simultaneously : an active auxiliary resonance using auxiliary Quasi-resonant DC tank)DC link snubber switch has adopted a three-phase voltage inverter. AQRDCL proposed in this paper can reduce the effective and current peak stress of the power semiconductors of the auxiliary resonant snubber circuit compared to the conventional active-resonant DC link snubber, it is not necessary to install the clamp switch of the auxiliary resonant DC link, DC the peak current and power loss of the bus line can be reduced.

  • Due to the characteristics of the vehicle structure, the magnetic levitation train has a confined bottom space thus a study on miniaturization and weight reduction of auxiliary power unit is essential. This auxiliary power unit is an essential device used for illumination, air conditioning, heating and air brake equipment excluding the motor. The previous auxiliary power unit for magnetic levitation train has used the hard switching having a high switching frequency with heavy loss in order to reduce the size of filter reactor and transformer but the reduction in volume was not significant. In this paper, by reducing the loss, reducing the size of the cooling unit and by increasing the switching frequency using the soft switching of resonant converter, it has miniaturized and reduced the weight of filter reactor and transformer which occupy significant space in the auxiliary power unit. This study has verified the performance of 50KVA grade prototype through simulated interpretation and analysis, and compared the size and weight of auxiliary power unit of the previous magnetic levitation train.

Optimal Soft-Switching Scheme for Bidirectional DC-DC Converters with Auxiliary Circuit

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching bidirectional dc-dc converter (BDC) with an auxiliary circuit. The proposed BDC can achieve the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) using an auxiliary circuit in the buck and boost operations. The auxiliary circuit supplies optimal energy for the ZVS operation of the main switches. The auxiliary circuit consists of a resonant inductor, a back-to-back switch and two capacitors. A small-sized resonant inductor and an auxiliary switch with a low-rated voltage can be used in the auxiliary circuit. Zero-current switching (ZCS) turn-on and turn-off of the auxiliary switches are possible. The proposed soft-switching scheme has a look-up table for optimal switching of the auxiliary switches. The proposed strategy properly adjusts the turn-on time of the auxiliary switch according to the load current. The proposed BDC is verified by the results of PSIM simulations and experiments on a 3-kW ZVS BDC system.

  • Currently under development is an airborne auxiliary power unit with 100 Kw equivalent power, which is composed of a centrifugal compressor, a reverse annular combustor, and a radial turbine. Air-foil bearings are used in this power unit to eliminate the oil supplying system, which can reduce the system complexity and weight. The high speed generator is adopted as an electric power generation and engine starting system, which can also eliminate the reduction gear system. Not only electric power but also pneumatic power is provided by bleeding the compressed air This power unit is aimed for the multi-purpose use such as a primary power unit In the army weapon system, an auxiliary power and environmental control unit in a next-generation tank, and a smoke generating unit.

  • Power Control and Distribution Unit (PCDU) plays roles of power generation control for solar array panel, power storage control for battery system, power conversion for unregulated and regulated primary bus and power distribution to bus and payload system. The selection and design of the proper auxiliary power interface for PCDU depending on various mission is one of the most important step for electrical power subsystem design. In this paper, the general design approach of auxiliary power interface for PCDU which can be used for small-sized LEO satellites application is given. And, the auxiliary power design concept for always alived modules such as solar array regulator and house keeping module is also suggested.
