Effects of Bypass Diode Array Configurations on Solar System (태양광시스템에서 바이패스 다이오드 배열의 영향도 분석)

  • The effect of bypass diodes on the output energy of solar cells was investigated under the condition of partial shading. The maximum power point was estimated using the perturbation & observation algorithm, taking into account the correlation effect between the arrangement and number of bypass diodes. The performance of the bypass diode was tested under the consideration of the partial shading effect and simulated using a Matlab/Simulink.

  • When the suction pressure of compressor decreases under its limit, the compression ratio is increased causing the malfunctions of compressor. As the method to decrease the compression ratio, hot gas bypass system is usually adopted in heat pump system. In the hot gas bypass system, the discharged gas from the compressor is bypassed into the compressor suction, which causes the increase of suction pressure and the decrease of compression ratio. In this study, the characteristics and performances of the hot gas bypass system in heat pump was investigated experimentally with a variation of the bypass flow rate ratio. With the increase of the bypass rate ratio, the compressor suction pressure was increased, even though the total capacity and COP was decreased. From the analysis of the experimental results, the optimum pressure control algorithm was suggested in this study.

Depth-of-interest-based Bypass Coding-unit Algorithm for Inter-prediction in High-efficiency Video Coding

  • The next-generation video coding standard known as High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) was developed with the aim of doubling the bitrate reduction offered by H.264/Advanced Video Coding (AVC) at the expense of an increase in computational complexity. Mode decision with motion estimation is still one of the most time-consuming computations in HEVC, as it is with H.264/AVC. Several schemes for a fast mode decision have been presented in reference software and in other studies. However, a possible speed-up in conventional schemes is sometimes insignificant for videos that have inhomogeneous spatial and temporal characteristics. This paper proposes a bypass algorithm to skip large-block-size predictions for videos where small block sizes are preferred over large ones. The proposed algorithm does not overlap with those in previous works, and thus, is easily used with other fast algorithms. Consequently, an independent speed-up is possible.

  • Currently used shortest path search algorithms involve graphs with vertices and weighted edges between each vertex. However, when finding the shortest path with a randomly shaped obstacle(an island, for instance) positioned in between the starting point and the destination, using such algorithms involves high memory inefficiency and is significantly time consuming - all positions in the map should be considered as vertices and every line connecting any of the two adjacent vertices should be considered an edge. Therefore, we propose a new method for finding the shortest path in such conditions without using weighted graphs. This algorithm will allow finding the shortest obstacle bypass given only the positions of the obstacle boundary, the starting point and the destination. When the row and column size of the minimum boundary rectangle to include an obstacle is m and n, respectively, the proposed algorithm has the maximum time complexity, O(mn). This performance shows the proposed algorithm is very efficient comparing with the currently used algorithms.

  • One of the most famous proactive routing protocols, DSDV (Destination -Sequenced Distance-Vector), is based on the minimum hop count. This paper suggests BIMP(Bypass Information Multi-Path) DSDV routing protocol that this protocol could route reliably as it can take the information of the bypass for the solution of the problem on EHMP DSDV. In this paper, the protocol checks throughput, packet delivery delay, packet delivery ratio, number of management messages, packet transmit finish time, etc on the traffic compared to DSDV, HMP DSDV, and EHMP DSDV protocols.

  • This paper presents an adaptive approach to control the amount of slip of the torque converter bypass clutch using its estimated friction coefficient. The proposed approach can be readily implemented using the inexpensive speed sensors currently installed in an automobile. A measurement feedback control law to drive the slip error to zero together with an adaptation law to identify the unknown friction coefficient is developed using the Lyapunov control design method. The robustness of the control and adaptation laws to parametric and/or torque uncertainties as well as the convergence of the friction coefficient are investigated. Simulation results verify the viability of the proposed control algorithm in real-world vehicle control applications.

  • Coronary angioplasty and coronary artery bypass graft, both are for the treatment of myocardial infarction widely used methods. For these procedures, there are especially difficulties in stenosis of blood vessels to diagnose accurately. To remedy this problem, by several researchers by using edge detection to detect stenosis of blood vessels has been studying. However, the results of using these methods vary defend on the vascular structure and the quality of the image. In this study, to improve these problems, the new algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm consists of methods to detect bifurcation of blood vessels and its ending point by using multi sampling, threshold and fuzzy algorithm. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, angiography was used for the different results of the blood vessels of the proposed algorithm, and the result was effective in detecting bifurcation of blood vessels and its ending point.

  • The objects of PV (Photovoltaic) monitoring system is to reduce the loss of system and operation and maintenance costs. In case of PV plants with configured of centralized inverter type, only 1 PV module might be caused a large loss in the PV plant. For this reason, the monitoring technology of PV module-level that find out the location of the fault module and reduce the system losses is interested. In this paper, a fault diagnosis algorithm are proposed using thermal and electrical characteristics of PV modules under failure. In addition, the monitoring system applied with proposed algorithm was constructed. The wireless sensor using LoRa chip was designed to be able to connect with IoT device in the future. The characteristics of PV module by shading is not failure but it is treated as a temporary failure. In the monitoring system, it is possible to diagnose whether or not failure of bypass diode inside the junction box. The fault diagnosis algorithm are developed on considering a situation such as communication error of wireless sensor and empirical performance evaluation are currently conducting.

  • This paper presents designs and performance investigations of two bypass-type MR (magneto-rheological) shock dampers for high impulsive force systems, one of which is with single rod and the other with double rod. First of all, on the basis of the Bingham properties of the MR fluid and the magnetic field analysis of the magnetic circuit, the MR shock dampers are designed and manufactured. After experimental investigations on their magnetic field-dependent damping forces and responses characteristics, dynamic models of the proposed dampers are formulated and compared. Then, a simple 1 degree-of-freedom mass-drop system is constructed, and the effective and practical control algorithm is designed by considering dynamic characteristics of the shock control system. The shock control performances of the proposed MR shock dampers are verified through the comparison study of experiment results with simulation ones.

  • This study aims to discover the optimal pipe layout for a ship, which generally needs a lot of time, efforts and experiences. Genetic algorithm was utilized to search for the optimum. Here the optimum stands for the minimum pipe length between two given points. Genetic algorithm is applied to planar pipe layout problems to confirm plausible and efficiency. Sub-programs are written to find optimal layout for the problems. Obstacles are laid in between the starting point and the terminal point. Pipe is supposed to bypass those obstacles. Optimal layout between the specified two points can be found using the genetic algorithm. Each route was searched for three case models in two-dimensional plane. In consequence of this, it discovered the optimum route with the minimized distance in three case models. Through this study, it is possible to apply optimization of ship pipe route to an actual ship using genetic algorithm.
