The purpose of this research was to investigate the pharmacological effects of Dansameum (DSE) water extract which is composed with Salviae Radix, Santali Lignum and Amomi Semen. DSE was administered orally at the concentartion of 100 and 500 mg/kg. DSE decreased the writhing syndrome induced by acetic acid and the permeability of evans blue into peritoneal cavity. Also, DSE inhibited the production of nitric oxide from murine macrophages. Futhermore, DSE protected the liver injury induced by galactosamine in vitro system and $CCl_4$ in vivo system. These results suggest that DSE has a diverse effects such as analgesic action, inflammatory action and liver protective action.

In order to investigate the effect of Dohongsamultang and Dansameum upon restrain of thorombus formation through the experimental study, following conclusion has been obtained; 1. The number of plateletes was increased in the trial group compared with the control group, revealed significance in both of trial groups. 2. Fibrinogen was increased in trial group compared with control group, but the significance was revealed only in Sample I group of Dohongsamultang. 3. Prothrombin time was shortened in both of trial groups, but the significance was revealed in Sample I group of Dohongsa-multang. 4. FDP was decreased in both of trial groups, but the significance was revealed in Sample I group of Dohongsamultang.

Objective : his study was carried out to investigate the effect of Dansameum (DS) on the gastrohemorrhagic lesion induced by ammonia in rats. Methods : Rats were pretreated with DS extract 25 mg/kg for 10 days and then were given amonia through gastric tube. The animals were killed 1 hr after amonia treatment. Results : DS extract siginificantly reduced the gastrohemorrhagic lesion score, the gastric lipid peroxide level, the gastric urease activity, the gastric myeloperoxidase activity, the gastric acid phosphatase activity, xanthine oxidase activity and type conversion, and increased the gastric glutathione level considerably. In photomicrographs of stomach tissue in rat, we could see the gastrohemorrhagic lesion induced clearly. conclusions : These results suggest that DS extract may be effective in peptic ulcer.
