  • Nonlinear normal modes(NNMs) is a branch of periodic solution of nonlinear dynamic systems. Determination of stable periodic solution is very important in many engineering applications since the stable periodic solution can be an attractor of such nonlinear systems. Periodic solutions of nonlinear system are usually calculated by perturbation methods and numerical methods. In this study, numerical method is used in order to calculate the NNMs. Iteration of the solution is presented by multiple shooting method and continuation of solution is presented by pseudo-arclength continuation method. The stability of the NNMs is analyzed using Floquet multipliers, and bifurcation points are calculated using indirect method. Proposed analyses are applied to two nonlinear numerical models. In the first numerical model nonlinear spring-mass system is analyzed. In the second numerical model Jeffcott rotor system which has unstable equilibria is analyzed. Numerical simulation results show that the multiple shooting method can be applied to self excited system as well as the typical nonlinear system with stable equilibria.

  • In order to assess the atmospheric dispersion for the accidental releases of nuclear power plants, in calculating X/Q values in the XOQAR and PAVAN codes which are based on Reg. Guide 1.145, the X/Q and frequency values are plotted on log-normal paper. Starting with the highest X/Q value of this plot, the codes compare the slope of the line drawn from this point to every other point within an increment containing ten X/Q values. If there are fewer than ten values, only the number available are used. The coefficients that produce the line with the least negative slope are saved. The end point of this line is used as the next starting point, from which slopes to the points within the next increment, containing ten X/Q values, are compared. The X/Q values corresponding to the cumulative frequency values 0.5%, 5% or 50% are calculated to search for the $0{\sim}2$ hour X/Q value that tends to be a very conservative value. In this work, a fuzzy logic inference method is used for nonlinear interpolation of the X/Q values versus the cumulative frequency. The fuzzy logic inference method is known to be a food technique for nonlinear interpolation. The proposed method was applied to a potential accidential radioactive release of the Yonggwang nuclear power plant, which gives more realistic X/Q values.

  • Key aspects of the Norwegian Method of Tunnelling (NMT) are reviewed. These include a predictive method of support design using the six-parameter Q-system of rock mass characterisation. The rock mass rating or Q-value is updated during tunnel driving. The designed tunnel support generally consists of wet process, steel fibre reinforced shotcrete combined with fully grouted, untensioned rock bolts, Even in poor rock conditions S(fr) + B usually acts as the final rock reinforcement and tunnel lining. Since it is a drained lining, it is very economic compared to cast concrete with membranes. Light, free-standing steel liners are used to prevent water affecting the runnel environment. Rock mass conditions, and hence lining design and cost estimation can be assessed by careful use of seismic surveys. Relationships between the P-wave velocity, the rock mass deformation modulus and the Q-value have recently been established, where tunnel depth, rock porosity and the uniaxial compression strength of the rock are important variables. The rock mass modulus estimate, and simple index testing of the joints, provide the key input which joints are discretely represented (either in two dimensions with the UDEC code or in three dimensions with the 3DEC code) is generally favoured compared to continuum analysis. The latter may give a misleading impression of uniformity and deformations tend to be understimated. Q-system NMT designs of S(fr) + B (fibre reinforced shotcrete and bolting) are numerically checked and adjustments made to bolt capacities and shotcrete thickness if overloading is evident around the modelled profile.

  • In this paper, we propose a signal generation method of rectangular QAM for rotationally invariant I/Q TCM. The proposed method consists of only digital logic gates without look-up table so that we can implement the system compactly. Our scheme can be applied to every rectangular QAM with the level higher than 64.

  • A system of variational inclusions with (A, ${\eta}$, m)-accretive operators in real q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces is introduced. Using the resolvent operator technique associated with (A, ${\eta}$, m)-accretive operators, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for this system of variational inclusions and propose a Mann type iterative algorithm for approximating the unique solution for the system of variational inclusions.

  • Online Q&A for the National Institute of the Korean Language provides expert's answers for questions about the Korean language, in which many similar questions are repeatedly posted like other Q&A boards. So, if a system automatically finds questions that are similar to a user's question, it can immediately provide users with recommendable answers to their question and prevent experts from wasting time to answer to similar questions repeatedly. In this paper, we set 5 classes of questions based on its topic which are frequently asked, and propose to classify questions to those classes. Our system searches similar questions by combining topic similarity, vector similarity and sequence similarity. Experiment shows that our method improves search correctness with topic classification. In experiment, Mean Reciprocal Rank(MRR) of our system is 0.756, and precision for the first result is 68.31% and precision for top five results is 87.32%.

  • A numerical analysis has been performed for natural convection in an air conditioner duct system. The governing equations were solved a finite volume method using a SIMPLE algorithm. In the calculation mode of duct, the room temperature was preserved at $25.0^{\circ}C$ and duct wall temperature had a temperature of 15, 20.0, 22.5, 23.75, 26.25, 27.5 30 and $35^{\circ}C$. The results of velocity vectors and contours have been represented for various parameters. Based on the numerical data, the relationships between temperature difference and flow rate into room was represented. In the case of $T_\gamma>T_\omega$, the equation for temperature difference and flow rate was $Q=0.0285\triangleT^0.4005$, and in the case of $T_\gamma>T_\omega$, the equation was $Q=0.0099\triangleT^0.4752$. The duct system has an important relation to room temperature and duct wall temperature.
