Recommended book lists make 'a good book' known and help choose the books. Currently, the recommended book lists published by various institutions are primarily used as the selection tool for choosing children's and young adults' book in many libraries and schools. Considering this reality, I examined the present production condition of the recommended book lists and evaluated whether they were suitable as a selection tool. Afterwards, I suggested the development methods about how the recommended book lists will be developed for them to function as a selection tool.

Book recommendations in libraries can be used as a tool to help users with vague needs browse and select books. Therefore, libraries spend a lot of time and effort to introduce various materials to their users and recommend suitable books. Meanwhile, various organizations other than libraries also publish recommended reading lists, and these lists reflect the intentions of the entity that selects the recommended books. The purpose of this study is finding out how the recommended book lists of libraries differ from the recommended reading lists of non-library organizations. To achieve this, the study limited the scope to 'teenagers', who are the main target audience for book recommendations in many organizations, and compared the recommended book lists of libraries and non-library organizations in terms of (1) the selection criteria for recommended books, (2) the characteristics of recommended books, and (3) the way of providing recommended book lists. Through this analysis, the study identified the characteristics and limitations of library recommended book lists and discussed areas for improvement.

For University students, reading is one of the important way of character education and career education that can give students the power to recognize and adapt to changes in society. The university supports the reading activities of university students in various ways, such as opening liberal arts courses related to reading or setting up required credits. In addition, it supports activities such as selecting the recommended book list for university students and providing the list. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of the current university's recommended book list and methods of using reading, and to propose improvement plans. To this end, using D University as an example, the current status of the recommended book list and reading discussion program were identified, and problems were investigated. In the current recommended book list, the subject area and list did not properly reflect the times, and the information on the provided list was very simple. Also, it was found that there was no suggestion on how to use the recommended book list. Through this, the recommended book list with the addition of bibliographic information and composition of the subject area was proposed. In addition, the reading discussion method was structured using Havruta.

The purpose of this study is to understand student's reading motivation by laying out self-selected reading program and running it at school libraries. The self-selected reading program based on self-determination theory ensures the autonomy of book selection. The self-selected reading program in this study provided a number of scope and recommended book lists in order to ensure the autonomy of book selection and developed integrated reading and writing. After finishing this program, the author measured 6 domains of reading motivation with participated students who completed this course. As a result, it turned out that autonomous motive domains excessively surpassed heteronomous motive domains. Such autonomy of book selection, one of the key features from self-selected reading programs, is expected to help making the best use of school library collections by recommended book lists and stimulating stable and sustainable reading habits driven by self-motivation.

In this study, overlapping recommended books in different schools were positively analyzed and the extent to which the recommended books leading to actual loan was statistically analyzed. The purpose of the study is to confirm the effects of recommended books by analyzing the data and extracting the proofs. For the method of research, eighteen elementary schools' recommended book lists and thirteen elementary schools' loan data were collected and compared by schools, by grades in a basic statistical analysis method. The result shows that recommended books similarity was low and recommended books affected the total volume of lend books. Loan frequency by grades showed the difference and in every school, lower grades had high loan frequency. The result of this study will be applied as basic data for applying recommended books in school libraries.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the content of the online book curation services and recommended books list by public libraries in Korea and to identify their properties. The case for analysis is a list of 11,447 recommended books provided by 35 online book curation services collected from 23 public libraries and the main results of the study are as follows. Only few case libraries were presenting recommendation themes, and recommendation targets were most often not specific, and the recommendation cycle of books was the most monthly. In general, books recommended for book curation do not overlap with each other, but there was overlap in the field of literature (novels) published in 2019~2021. For recommended books, the proportion of books published by some publishers was high, and books published in 2019~2021 were the most common. The subject areas analyzed based on the KDC 6th ed were literature the most. Readers analyzed by ISBN were of in the order of cultural books and children's books, and the type of publication was in the order of books, pucture books, and comics. Based on these research results, it was required to develop guidelines for online book curation service for public libraries and build a platform to share with libraries.

The content curation service through big data analysis is receiving great attention in various content fields, such as film, game, music, and book. This service recommends personalized contents to the corresponding user based on user's preferences. The existing book curation systems recommended books to users by using bibliographic citation, user profile or user log data. However, these systems are difficult to recommend books related to character names or spatio-temporal information in text contents. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a personalized book curation system based on integrated mining of a book. The proposed system consists of mining system, recommendation system, and visualization system. The mining system analyzes book text, user information or profile, and SNS data. The recommendation system recommends personalized books for users based on the analysed data in the mining system. This system can recommend related books using based on book keywords even if there is no user information like new customer. The visualization system visualizes book bibliographic information, mining data such as keyword, characters, character relations, and book recommendation results. In addition, this paper also includes the design and implementation of the proposed mining and recommendation module in the system. The proposed system is expected to broaden users' selection of books and encourage balanced consumption of book contents.

This study investigated secondary materials of children and young adults materials produced by domestic and foreign countries. In order to do that, characteristics and present states of bibliographies, indexes, union catalogs, major journals were examined while bibliography, index and catalog were defined. This study results showed that there were no bibliography and index for children and young adults materials but only recommended book catalogs and award book catalogs were produced in Korea. There were however many various second materials in foreign countries.

Despite the social interest in eBook and its advantages, as a result of each industry using different document formats, it is difficult to exchange or share eBook contents. And this hindered the activation of eBook market. The U.S. and Japan have realized the importance of setting a standard for eBook document format and have established eBook standard with government agencies and related industries and in Korea, also, through Working Group for Standardization Committee of EBK, eBook industry standard, EBKS, was established. EBKS provides more advantages than HTML or PDF and the basic format is XML. The objective of EBKS is exact exchange of eBook content, reflection of characteristics of Korean publication environment, simplicity in creating, and convertibility with other standards. Meanwhile, in the DTD aspect, EBKS includes static document structure, extension mechanism, vertical writing, multi-column editing and reflection on the characteristics of Korean and proverbs. For exchanging style, content and style are separated using XSL-FO and XSL-FO is recommended for printing. Also, EBKS metadata is composed of do-metadata that does not use qualifier and x-metadata for extension to provide easiness in usage and ability to exchange and convert.

Three important books in the oriental medicine are Huangjenaekyung (medical book), Sanghanron (pharmacological book) and Shinnongbonchokyung (herbal book). Chang, joong-kyung who is the writer of Sanghanron would be recommended as a saint physician and his book, Sanghanron is granted for a best book in this field by Chinese people. Also, Japanese physicians would estimate Sanghanron as the most magnificent book ever written by a human being. Sanghanron contains a lot of confirmations (證) of diseases, their progressing courses and exact therapeutic ways. Therefore modern physicians and pharmacists who are interested in the oriental medicine might study and practice more scientific approach of therapy for patients. The aim of this bibliographical study on Sanghanron is to explain systematically theories of this book and harmonize them with the modern medicinal study: In this study we have acquired three main results, the first is that we could get the coincidence between western & oriental way on the five therapeutic principles-sweating, vomiting, harmonizing, excreting and bleeding : the second, notice the exclusion of the Five Element Theory(the fundamental one in oriental medicine) and the third, found out the possibility of the immunological and neuroscientific explanation for pharmacological application to the oriental medicine.
