  • This study was conducted to evaluate the vasorelaxant effect of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract on contracted rabbit carotid artery. To study the effect of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract on contracted rabbit carotid arterial strips, arterial strips with intact or damaged endothelium were used for experiment using organ bath. The pre-contracted arterial strips with Phenylephrine(PE) was treated with various concentrations of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract(0.01, 0.03, 0.1, 0.3 and $1.0mg/m{\ell}$). To determine the mechanisms of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang-induced vasorelaxant, DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract were infused into contracted arterial rings which had been pretreated by indomethacin(IM), tetraethylammonium chloride(TEA), $N{\omega}$-nitro-L-arginine ($_L-NNA$), methylene blue(MB). And calcium chloride(Ca) 1 mM was infused into precontracted arterial ring induced by PE after treatment of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract in $Ca^{2+}$-free krebs solution. DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract revealed significant relaxation on PE-induced arterial contraction. DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract also had an effective relaxation to the intact endothelium arterial ring. SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract on contracted rabbit carotid artery is related with NO-cGMP pathway. Pretreatment of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract inhibited the contraction by influx of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ in contracted arterial ring induced by NE. This study indicated that the relaxation effect of SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract on contracted rabbit carotid artery is related with NO-cGMP pathway. Pretreatment of DangGuiSu-San and SamHwangSaSim-Tang extract inhibited the contraction by influx of extracellular $Ca^{2+}$ in contracted arterial ring induced by NE.

  • Sa-Hwang-San, which is invented by Jhun Eul for the treatment of tongue thrust of Spleen heat, is first mentioned on 'So Ah Yak Jeung Jik Gyul'. It is consisted of Gardeniae Fructus, Agastache rugosa, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Gypsum Fibrosum, Ledebouriellae Radix. According to 'Dong Ui Bo Gam', this medicine cures spleen heat, sore mouth and halitosis. In the viewpoint of pharmacology, this medicine as a whole can treat spleen stagnancy, spleen heat and stomach heat. However, there are some differences between the opinions of 'So Ah Yak Jeung Jik Gyul' and 'Dong Ui Bo Gam' the principal medicine of the former is Ledebouriellae Radix, while that of the latter is Gardeniae Fructus. Spleen stagnancy is the malfunction of spleen under the presence of the body fluid. Symptoms are abdominal dropsy and powerlessness. Spleen heat is the insufficiency of body fluid due to the heat of the spleen, while the function of the spleen is normal. Symptoms are sore mouth, halitosis and maxillary stagnancy. In clinical cases, Sa-Hwang-San has been found effective to the individuals with large, lowered, soft, and slanted mouths and lips. It was also beneficial for the YangMyong type. In clinical cases, Sa-Hwang-San is proven to be effective to the following symptoms soremouth, halitosis and maxillary stagnancy due to spleen heat abdominal dropsy and powerlessness due to spleen stagnancy.

  • On the treatment of C.V.A, I obtain the results through the bibliographic investigation in the method of Chong-Yol-Sa-Hwa as follows ; 1. The method of Chong-Yol-Sa-Hwa on the treatment of CVA. is used for the occation of flaming fire in the heart caused by fire emotions in excess (五志過極), difficiency of Yin, flaming up of excessive in liver and plegm-heat. 2. The representative symptoms which can be used by the method of Chong-Yol-Sa-Hwa are firerishness, redness on face, foul breath, fidgets, angry, high fever, constipation slimy and greasy yellow coat of the tongue, and the pulse shaped on full-rapid (洪數), tautsmaooth and rapid (弦滑血數). 3. The general prescription on the method of Chong-Yol-Sa-Hwa are Bang pung tong sung-San, Yangkyuk-San, Backho-Tang, Sosiho-Tang, Samhwa-Tang, Chibo-Tan and Woohwang chongsim-Hwan on excessive symptom-complex, Yookmichihwang-Tang-Kakam, Samool-Tang-Kakam and Youngyangkak-Tang on insufficency symptom complex. 4. The most frequently dosed medicinal plants are Seok-ko, Chi-mo, Dae-Hwang, Mang-cho, Hwang-kewm, Hwang-back, Chi-ja, Si-ho, Han-Su-Seok, Yong-Tam-Cho, Mok-Tan-Pi and Saeng-Chi-Hwang. 5. The method of chong-Yol-Sa-Hwa might be expressed good medicinal effects adopted on the symptoms or flaming evil fire (火旺) after awakend and ‘Yang’ occlusion of Chung-Chang-Pu (中臟脈) which is accompanied with the method of purgation, break through the plegm, resuscitate and nourishing the Yin.

  • We study the theory of finite series in Chosun Dynasty Mathematics. We divide it into two parts by the publication of Lee Sang Hyuk(李尙爀, 1810-?)'s Ik San(翼算, 1868) and then investigate their history. The first part is examined by Gyung Sun Jing(慶善徵, 1616-?)'s Muk Sa Jib San Bub(默思集算法), Choi Suk Jung(崔錫鼎)'s Gu Su Ryak(九數略), Hong Jung Ha(洪正夏)'s Gu Il Jib(九一集), Cho Tae Gu(趙泰耉)'s Ju Su Gwan Gyun(籌書管見), Hwang Yun Suk(黃胤錫)'s San Hak Ib Mun(算學入門), Bae Sang Sul(裵相設)'s Su Gye Soe Rok and Nam Byung Gil(南秉吉), 1820-1869)'s San Hak Jung Ei(算學正義, 1867), and then conclude that the theory of finite series in the period is rather stable. Lee Sang Hyuk obtained the most creative results on the theory in his Ik San if not in whole mathematics in Chosun Dynasty. He introduced a new problem of truncated series(截積). By a new method, called the partition method(分積法), he completely solved the problem and further obtained the complete structure of finite series.

  • I. Introduction Bi(痺) means blocking. It can reach at the joints or muscles or whole body and make pains. Numbness and movement disorders. BiJeung can be devided into SilBi and HeoBi. In SilBi there are PungHanSeupBi, YeolBi and WanBi. In HeoBi, there are GiHyeolHeoBi, EumHeoBi and YangHeoBi. The common principle for the treatment of BiJeung is devision of the chronic stage and the acute stage. In the acute stage, BiJeung is usually cured easily but in the chronic stage, it is difficult. In the terminal stage, BiJeung can reach at the internal organs. BiJeung is one kind of symptoms making muscles, bones and jonts feel pain, numbness or edema. For example it can be gout or SLE etc. Many famous doctors studied medical science by their fathers or teachers. So the history of medical science is long. So I studied ${\ll}Bijeungjujip{\gg}$. II. Final Decision 1. BanSuMun(斑秀文) thought that BiJeung can be cured by blocking of blood stream. So he insisted that the important thing to cure BiJeung is to improve the blood stream. • I. Introduction The essence of Oriental medicine consists of ancient books, experienced doctors and succeeded skills of common society. Many famous doctors studied medical science by their fathers or teachers. So the history of medical science is long. $\ll$DangDaeMyeongIImJeungJeongHwa(當代名醫臨證精華)$\gg$ written by SaWoogWang(史宇廣) and DanSeoGeon(單書健) has many medical experience of famous doctors. So it has important historical value. Bi(痺) means blocking. BiJeung is one kind of symptoms making muscles, bones and jonts feel pain, numbness or edema. For example it can be gout or SLE etc. So I studied ${\ll}BiJeungJuJip{\gg}$. II. Final Decision Following decisions of Chinese doctors of 20th century are as follows ; 1. JuYangChun(朱良春) emphasized on IkSinJangDok(益腎壯督) to treat BiJeong. And he devided WanBi(頑痺) as PungHanSeup(風寒濕), DamEo(痰瘀), YeolDok(熱毒), SinHeo(腎虛). He used insects for medicine. 2. ChoSuDoek(焦樹德) introduced past prescription. He used ChiBiTang(治痺湯) to treat HaengBi(行痺), TongBi(痛痺), ChakBi(着痺). He insisted that Han(寒; coldness) and Seup(濕; dampness) be Eum(陰) and Pung(風; wind) can change his character to be Eum. After all BiJeung is usually EumJeung. So he used GaeJi(桂枝) and BuJa(附子). By the way he used ChungYeolSanBiTang(淸熱散痺湯) for YeolBi, BoSinGeoHanChiWangTang SaBok(王士福) emphasized on the importance of medicine. He introduced many treatments like CheongYeol(情熱) for YeolBi and YiO(二烏) for HanBi. And he divided BiJeung period for three steps. At 1st step, we must use GeoSa(祛邪), at 2nd step, we must use BuJeong(扶正) and at 3rd step, we must use BoHyeol(補血), he insisted. And he introduced many herbs to treat BiJeung. 4. JeongGwangJeok(丁光迪) said that GaeJi(桂枝), MaHwang(麻黃), OYak(烏蘖) and BuJa(附子) are very important for TongRak(通絡). And pain usually results from Han(寒), so he liked to use hot-character herbs. 5. MaGi(馬志) insisted that BiJeung usually result from ChilJeong(七情). And he liked to use insects for treatment of BiJeung. 6. WeolSeokMu(越錫武) introduced 8 kinds of treatments and divided BiJeung period. Also he divided BeJeung for PungBi(風痺), HanBi(寒痺) and SeupBi(濕痺). 7. SeoGeaHam(徐季含) observed many patients and concluded that 86.7% of BiJeung is HeuJeung(虛症). 8. YuJiMyeong(劉志明) said that YeolBi is important and CheongYeol is also important. So he emphasized on DangGyuiJeomTongTang(當歸拈痛湯) and SeonBiTang(宣痺湯). 9. WangLiChu(汪履秋) studied cause of WanBi. Internal cause is GiHyeolHeo(氣血虛) and GanSinHeo(肝腎虛) and external cause is SaGi(邪氣) he insisted. 10. WangSaSang(王士相) said that YeolBi can be SeupYeolBi or EumHeuYeolBi(陰虛熱痺) and HanSeupBi(寒濕痺) is rare. He use WooBangJaSan(牛蒡子散) and BangPungHwan(防風丸) for SeupYeolBi, DangGyuiSaYeokTang(當歸四逆湯) for HanSeupBi. 11. JinTaekGang(陳澤江) treated YeolBi with BaekHoGaGyeJiTang(自虎加桂枝湯) and SaMyoSan(四妙散). If they don't have effect, he tried to cure BiJeung step by step. And he used e term of GeunBi(筋痺) and BangGiMogwaEIInTang(防己木瓜薏苡仁湯) was good for GeunBi. 12. MaSeoJeong(麻瑞亭) said that PungSeupYeokJeul(風濕歷節) is BiJeung and it is related to GanBinSin(肝脾腎; liver, Spleen, Kindey). And he emphasized on balance WiGi(衛氣) and YoungHeul(營血). 13. SaJeJu(史濟桂) said that GeunGolBi(筋骨痺) is similar to arthritis and sometimes called ChakBi. And SinBi(腎痺) is terminal stage of ChakBi, he said. He also used insects for treatment. 14. JeongJeNam(丁濟南) tried to cure SLE and used GyeJi, CheonCho(川椒), SinGeunCho(伸筋草), SunRyeongBi(仙靈脾), HyconSam(玄蔘) and GamCho(甘草). 15. JinGYungHwa(陳景和) emphasized on diagnosis of tongue. If the color of tongue is blue, it usually has EoHyeol(瘀血), for example. And he also used insects. 16. JuSongI(朱松毅) tried to devide YeolBi with OnByeong(溫病), Wi(衛), Gi(氣) and Hyeol(血). 17. RuDaBong(蔞多峰) said that JyeongHeo(正虛), OiSa(外邪) and EoHyeol are closely related. And he explained BiJeung by deviding the body into the part, for example head, neck, shoulder, waist, upper limb and lower limb. 18. YuMuBo(劉茂甫) defined PungHanSyubBi as chronic stage and YeolBi as acute stage.

  • In Oriental Medical theory, origin of kidney's weakness or atrophy is shen qi(腎氣) and function of san jiao(三焦) deteriorate, it result in a passage of evacuation is blocked. - In Oriental Medicine, Shen(腎) take charge of storing and evacuating function, by taking qi(氣) of the five viscera and the six bowels. - The cause of reducing of shen qi and san jiao's evacuative function is xu han(Emptiness and Coldness) of the five viscera and the six bowels' activity. So we do not treat only kidney, but we also must focus the five viscera and the six bowels' organic function and ying wei's function. A Renal Failure is similar in symptom to Kwan-kyuk(關格), oliguria or anuria, edema, Hu-son(虛損), Sin-pung(腎風) and Yuk-kuk(六極) in chenxiang(沈香). We grasp symptom of 7 cases of chronic renal failure, and diagnose its pathology based on Sa-jin(四診), and prescribed herbal medicines. And in the point of the chenxiang, we separate two group, Ater one is taken herbal medicine with chenxiang and the other is only taken herbal medicine with no using chenxiang, we compared the rate of treating with only herbal and herbal compounded chenxiang. We repeat medical examination for continuation of effective result, report clinical progress and result which based on this examination.

  • Poly(L-lactic acid-co-succinic acid-co-l,4-butane diol) (PLASB) was synthesized by direct condensation copolymerization of L-lactic acid (LA), succinic acid (SA), and 1,4-butanediol (BD) in the bulk using titanium(IV) butoxide as a catalyst. The weight-average molecular weight ofPLASB was $2.1{\times}10^{5}$ when the contents of SA and BD were each 0.5 mol/100 mol of LA. Electrospinning was used to fabricate porous membranes from this newly synthesized bioabsorbable PLASB dissolved in mixed solvents of methylene chloride and dimethylformamide. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images indicated that the fiber diameters and nanostructured morphologies of the electrospun membranes depended on the processing parameters, such as the solvent ratioand the polymer concentration. By adjusting both the solvent mixture ratio and the polymer concentration, we could fabricate uniform nanofiber non-woven membranes. Cell proliferation on the electrospun porous PLASB membranes was evaluated using mouse fibroblast cells; we compare these results with those of the cell responses on bulk PLASB films.
