  • A new concept of stability that includes Lyapunov and orbital stabilities and leads to concepts in between them is discussed in terms of a given topology of the function space. The criteria for such new concepts to hold are investigted employing suitably Lyapunov-like functions and the comparison principle.

  • In this paper, the new approach and technique are introduced and derived from the original Lyapunov direct method which is used to decide the stability of system conveniently. This proposed technique modifies the formal concepts of the sufficient conditions of Lyapunov stability and is able to generate the methods for the robust design of control systems. Also, it applies to the dynamic systems with bounded perturbations and the results of the computer program using the new concept are compared with those of previous research papers and conventional Lyapunov direct method. It is possible to recognize the practical improvements of the estimation of robustness bounds of the systems.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new concept of stability of coincidence iterative algorithm for three mappings and derive a new three-step Jungck-type iterative algorithm. And, we prove a stability result and a strong convergence result for the Jungck-type algorithm using the MJ-contractive condition. Our results extend and unify the corresponding ones in [3, 6, 7, 13].

  • This paper presents a new concept of reactive reserve based contingency constrained optimal power flow (RCCOPF) for voltage stability enhancement. This concept is based on the fact that increase in reactive reserves is effective for enhancement of voltage stability margins of post-contingent states, in this paper, the proposed algorithm is applied to voltage stability margin of interface flow. Interface flow limit, in the open access environment, can be a main drawback. RCCOPF for enhancement of interface flow margin is composed of two modules, modified continuation power flow (MCPF) and optimal power flow (OPF). These modules art recursively perform ed until satisfying the required margin of interface flow in the given voltage stability criteria.

  • This paper proposes a new concept of support vector machine (SVM) based voltage stability classifier using time-series phasor data. The classifier, based on a linear SVM, can provide very effective signals for identification of long-term voltage stability. In addition, the SVM output is applicable as an voltage stability indicator when an amount of corrective controls are performed just to make the system reach around at the maximum deliverable point.

  • An effective method for analyzing the stability of nonlinear systems is developed. After introducing a novel concept named the point- wise generalized Dahlquist constant for any mapping and presenting its useful properties, we show that the point-wise generalized Dahlquist constant is sufficient for characterizing the exponential stability of nonlinear systems.

  • Directional stability is important performance in vehicle and tire design. The current methods to analyze this is generally based on linear concept. Using the existing concept, it cannot realistically explain the subjective assessment at all because it is hard to practically represent the nonlinear behaviour of a complex vehicle system in reality. In this paper, new method to analyze directional stability is introduced. At first, directional stability of vehicle is categorized into yaw, rear axle, and roll stability. In order to objectify these items, driver perceptual parameters based on subjective assessment are used. Using the perceptual parameters, it can successfully explain the transient maneuver of vehicle and extract objective parameters for directional stability. Finally, these objective parameters are successfully validated through two handling tests, lane change and severe lane change. The correlation results show that there exists a good correlation between subjective assessment and the proposed objective parameters.

  • This lecture introduces new press, adapter and control concepts to size multi-level sintered components. The essential thing here is that the advantages of the multi-plate technology have been applied to the sizing adapter concept. Thus, the new concept meets the demands for a modern P/M manufacture and offers sufficient potential to size any future, complex sintered components such as synchronizer hubs, oil pump wheels and VCT parts with highest precision. Furthermore, it outlines a new flexible concept for the parts transfer, including feeding, orientation and lubrication while responding to the high demands on process stability and short change-over times.

  • A new bearing concept, the wave journal bearing, has been developed to improve the static and dynamic performance of a hydrodynamic journal bearing. This concept features a wave in bearing surface. Not only straight but also twisted wave journal bearing are investigated numerically. The performances of straight and twisted bearings are compared to a plain journal bearing over a wide range of eccentricity. The bearing load and stability characteristics are dependent on the geometric parameters such as the number of waves, the amplitude and the start point of the wave relative to the applied load direction. The wave journal bearing, especially for the twisted one, offers better stability than the plain journal bearing under all eccentricity and load orientation.

  • A new bearing concept, the wave journal bearing, has been developed to improve the steady and dynamic performance of a hydrodynamic journal bearing. This concept features a wave in inner bearing surface. Not only straight but also twisted wave journal bearing are investigated numerically. The performances of straight and twisted bearings are compared to a plain journal bearing over a relatively wide range of eccentricity. The bearing load and stability characteristics are dependent on the geometric parameters such as the number of waves, the amplitude and the starting point of the wave relative to the applied load. The wave journal bearing, especially for the twisted one, offers better stability than the plain journal bearing under all eccentricity and all wave to load orientation.
