  • Three time-discontinuous Galerkin quadrature element methods (TDGQEMs) are developed for structural dynamic problems. The weak-form time-discontinuous Galerkin (TDG) statements, which are capable of capturing possible displacement and/or velocity discontinuities, are employed to formulate the three types of quadrature elements, i.e., single-field, single-field/least-squares and two-field. Gauss-Lobatto quadrature rule and the differential quadrature analog are used to turn the weak-form TDG statements into a system of algebraic equations. The stability, accuracy and numerical dissipation and dispersion properties of the formulated elements are examined. It is found that all the elements are unconditionally stable, the order of accuracy is equal to two times the element order minus one or two times the element order, and the high-order elements possess desired high numerical dissipation in the high-frequency domain and low numerical dissipation and dispersion in the low-frequency domain. Three fundamental numerical examples are investigated to demonstrate the effectiveness and high accuracy of the elements, as compared with the commonly used time integration schemes.

  • This study studies on the physical property of MWNT/PU composite film for electrostatic dissipation (ESD) function by dispersing multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) in dimethylformamide (DMF) and by combining it with polyurethane(PU). For this purpose, four kinds of MWNT were selected and the composite films were made by dispersion processing, and their physical properties were measured and investigated in terms of electrical conductivity. For dispersion parameters, four MWNT contents(0.5, 1, 2, 5wt%) and two dispersion times(30min, 120min) were selected. The dispersion property and the electrical conductivity of MWNT/PU film was measured using a UV-Vis spectrometer and conductivity measuring apparatus. Finally, their physical properties according to the dispersion conditions were analyzed and discussed with various processing conditions.

  • Various Eulerian-Lagrangian models for the one-dimensional longitudinal dispersion equation in nonuniform flow were studied comparatively. In the models studied, the transport equation was decoupled into two component parts by the operator-splitting approach; one part is governing advection and the other is governing dispersion. The advection equation has been solved by using the method of characteristics following fluid particles along the characteristic line and the results were interpolated onto an Eulerian grid on which the dispersion equation was solved by Crank-Nicholson type finite difference method. In the solution of the advection equation, Lagrange fifth, cubic spline, Hermite third and fifth interpolating polynomials were tested by numerical experiment and theoretical error analysis. Among these, Hermite interpolating polynomials are generally superior to Lagrange and cubic spline interpolating polynomials in reducing both dissipation and dispersion errors.

  • In order to study electrical properties of epoxy composites with various frequency. To measure of dielectric characteristics have been performed over a frequency range from 30[Hz] to 3[MHz] and a temperature range of $20[^{\circ}C]$, $100[^{\circ}C]$, $140[^{\circ}C]$. We observed values of dielectric constant and dissipation of the epoxy composites with various frequency. We were observed dielectric loss and dispersion in low frequency region. Also, we observed to decrease of the dielectric constant due to the effects of filler in high temperature region.

  • The turbulent fluctuations of temperature and two components of velocity have been measured with hot- and cold-wires in the Thermally Stratified Wind Tunnel(TSWT). Using the fin-tube heat exchanger type heaters and the neural network control algorithm, both stable ($dT/dz=109.4^{\circ}C$) and unstable ($dT/dz=-49.1^{\circ}C$) stratifications were realized. An ambient air jet was issued normally into the cross flow($U_{\infty}=1.0 m/s$) from a round nozzle(d = 6 mm) flushed at the bottom waII of the wind tunnel with the velocity ratio of $5.8(U_{jet}/U_{\infty})$. The characteristics of turbulent dispersion in the cross flow jet are found to change drastically depending on the thermal stratification. Especially, in the unstable condition, the vertical velocity fluctuation increases very rapidly at downstream of jet. The fluctuation velocity spectra and velocity-temperature cospectra along the jet centerline were obtained and compared. In the case of stable stratification, the heat flux cospectra changes Its sign from a certain point at the far field because of the restratification phenomenon. It is inferred that the main reason in the difference between the vertical heat fluxes is caused by the different length scales of the large eddy motions. The turbulent kinetic energy and scalar dissipation rates were estimated using partially non-isotropic and isotropic turbulent approximation. In the unstable case, the turbulent energy dissipation decreases more rapidly with the downstream distance than in the stable case.

  • The purpose of this study is examining thermal dissipation materials for the lighting and radiate efficiency improvement of 8W LED and confirming the properness of the thermal dissipation materials for LED heat sink. Solid Works flow simulation on 8W class COB was done based on the material characteristics of thermal conductive polymer materials. According to the result of simulation, Al had better thermal dissipation performance than PET. Highest temperature was $7.6^{\circ}C$ higher while lowest temperature was $7.8^{\circ}C$ lower. The test on the heat sinks made by the materials, highest temperature was $4.1^{\circ}C$ higher and lowest temperature was $3.9^{\circ}C$ lower. It is possible to confirm that Al heat sink has better thermal dissipation efficiency because it has better dispersion of heat generated at junction temperature and less heat cohesion. The weight of PET heat sink was reduced than Al heat sink by 46.9% by the density difference between Al and PET. In conclusion, thermal dissipation performance of thermal conductive polymer is lower than Al material however, it is possible to lighting heat sink because thermal conductive polymer has better formability, has lower specific weight and enables various design options.

  • This study surveys the characteristics of the PU/MWNT foaming film according to foaming conditions. For this purpose, firstly, 16 kinds of PU/MWNT forming films were prepared with 4 kinds of dispersion solutions (IPA/MWNT, DMF/MWNT, MEK/MWNT, and Toluene/MWNT) and 4 kinds of blowing agents (organic I, organic II, capsule, and inorganic). The electrical resistivity of these PU/MWNT foaming films according to the dispersion solutions and blowing agents were analysed and discussed with surface profile and cell morphology of measured by SEM. And secondly, 24 kinds of PU/MWNT foaming films were also prepared with 2 kinds of IPA dispersion solution contents and 3 kinds of blowing agents with variation of the blowing temperatures and film thickness. The physical properties of the PU/MWNT foaming films such as electrical resistivity (surface and volume) and triboelectricity with cell morphology were measured and discused through the quantities of IPA, blowing agent added and also physical conditions(temperature, thickness so on) for establishing optimum foaming conditions with good electrostatic dissipation.
