Seopcheonsa(葉天士) regarded the cause of Stomach-Eum[胃陰] deficiency as the lack of fluid and humor induced the heat by Eum(陰, yin) deficiency constitution, external pathogen, overexertion and fatigue, misused medication etc. He said that the symptoms of Stomach-Eum deficiency was related to indigestion of food and that it induced the short supply of nutrition for the whole body and the symptoms by disabled Earth[土]-engenders-Metal[金]. He presented the treatment of clearing Stomach-Fire[胃熱] and nourishing Stomach-Eum[胃陰], and used Geumgwemaekmundongtang(金匱麥門冬湯). And he emphasized Stomach-Eum to supplement existing Spleen-Yang[脾陽] centered treatment. Dangjonghae(唐宗海) regarded Spleen-Eum[脾陰] as these, first, it was fluid and humor such as digestive enzyme. Secondly, it was nutritive substance itself. Finally, it contained plaster-oil and blood-agglutination which formed flesh with nutritive substance. Seopcheonsa and Dangjonghae both thought that fluid and humor was necessary to digest food. However, Dangjonghae's Spleen-Eum[脾陰] included nutritive substance as the result of digestion. So we can say that Dangjonghae integrated Spleen-Eum with Stomach-Eum and Spleen-nutrient.

This paper aims to present a model of obesity and leanness based on eum, yang, ki and blood metabolism of Korean medicine. I analyzed the theory of eum, yang, ki and blood metabolism, yang transforming ki and eum forming the body on Korean medicine, and compared them with energy homeostasis by anabolism and catabolism of modern medicine. In the eum and yang theory, the metabolic process of the human body is dominated by synergism and antagonism between eum force and yang force. When the balance of eum and yang collapses, all the pathological actions of the human body appear, and in the eum and yang metabolic process, an imbalance between yang transforming ki and eum forming the body occurs. The function of yang transforming ki is reduced to ki deficiency, and the function of eum forming the body is increased to blood excess. When blood excess and ki deficiency is given, energy intake increases, energy expenditure decreases, overweight and obesity occur. On the contrary, the function of yang transforming ki is increased to ki excess, and the function of eum forming the body is decreased to blood deficiency. When ki excess and blood deficiency is done, energy intake decreases and energy expenditure increases, the body becomes leanness. When the balance of eum, yang, ki and blood metabolism collapses and becomes blood excess and ki deficiency, overweight and obesity occur, and when ki excess and blood deficiency is done, the body becomes leanness. The energy homeostasis of the human body can be explained by eum, yang, ki and blood metabolism of Korean medicine and it contains the concept of anabolism and catabolism of modern medicine.

Eum Syndrom include symptoms which is because by the cold thingsand by the infection of SamEum of TaeEum, SoEum, GualEum in Treatise On Exogenous Febrile Diseases(傷寒論). After Wang HoGo, many medical people had proceed the research of Eum Syndrom, but recently, we have almost never or no nothing research about that. So, I want to make modern base of Eum syndrom, and researched mainly for the "YinZhengLueLi". That can be summarized like below. Eum Syndrom shows firstly red face, tremor, waist-and-leg heaviness, lastly body heaviness, fatigue, narcolepsy, congestion of the pupils because of from exogenous attack of wind-cold, impairment of spleen due to Cold things, and dew and mist and rain and damp's invation by mouth and nose, greedy of sexual desire, So, in the diagnosis of Eum Syndrom, we have to look over precisely the color and pulse, especially, by pulse. We can know that, he used the prescription which are have heating kidney function, Byuklyuksan, Jungyangsan, Huahamsan, Huiyangdan, Baneumdan etc, and the prescription which are have strengthening spleen and kidney, Bujasan, Yukgyesan, Bakchulsan etc. So, we can know that he was very interested in deficiency and cold of kidney's function. While, he newly made the prescriptions of Sinchultang, Bakchultang, Huanggitang, Jujunghuan, and he used various prescriptions.

Presently Sasang constitutional medicine draws public attention and a diet based on this theory in gaining popularity. However, scientific data are not available to probe the effects of constitutional diet and the correlations between constitution and food consumptions. Thiry-four healthy subjects[26 females and 8 males] with Tae-eum(females: 5, males: 7), So-yang(females: 9)and So-eum(females: 12, males: 1), were studied. Subjects were not told the kind of constitutional diets they were consuming. Tae-eum constitutional diet was given to all subjects more than 2 meals a day for 8 weeks. The Sasang constitutional classification, food frequency questionnaire and food habits were assessed. The anthropometric assessment, dietary assessment, health status assessment and blood analysis were carried out before and after taking the Tae-eum constitution diet. In case of females, the body weights and BMI were different among the constitutional groups in the following order : Tae-eum constitutional diet. In case of females, the body weights the body weights and BMI were different among the constitutional groups in the following order: Tae-eum>So-yang>So-eum. In case of males, the body weights and BMI of Tae-eum were significantly higher than those of So-eum. In general, habitual food consumption of all of these four groups were very close to those for each of Sasang constitutional types described by Sasang medicine. After 8-weeks of Tae-eum diet, the health status and blood biochemical parameters were not significantly changed.

Objective : Experimental studies were done to research the effects of Gubo-eum(Jiubao-yin) and Kamigubo-eum(Jiameijiubao-yin) on the pulmonary thromboembolism and the immediately type hypersensitivity. Methods : For measuring the response about the pulmonary thromboembolism, we investigated a survival rate after the intravenous injection of sodium arachidonate and adenocine diphophate(ADP). For measuring the response about the immediately type hypersensitivity, we did the intravenous injection of histamin and serotonin, and phlebotomized and excoriated skin and investigated the amount of escaped pigment. Results : The each solid extract of Gubo-eum(Jiubao-yin) and Kamigubo-eum(Jiameijiubao-yin) revealed significant decrease effect on viscosity of mucin solution. The each solid extract of Gubo-eum(Jiubao-yin) and Kamigubo-eum(Jiameijiubao-yin) revealed significant effect on the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by sodium arachidonate and adenocine diphophate(ADP). The each solid extract of Guboeum(Jiubao-yin) and Kamigubo-eum(Jiameijiubao-yin) revealed significant on vascular permeability responses to intradenmal histamine and serotonine. conclusions : The each solid extract of Gubo-eum(Jiubao-yin) and Kamigubo-eum(Jiameijiubao-yin) revealed significant effect on the immediately type hypersensitivity and the pulmonary thromboembolism.

Comparative hormones quantities on the blood analysis was carried out to investigate the hormones specific characters on the blood in four types of physical constitution. Thyroid-stimulating (TSH), triiodothyronine($T_3$), triiodothyronine uptake($T_3$ uptake), free triiodothyronine(free $T_3$), thyroxine($T_4$), free thyroxine (free $T_4$), thyroxine-binding globulin(TBG), adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH), luteinizing hormone(LH), testosterone were measured. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The value of thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, while the value of So-EUM-IN was increased and SO-YANG-IN was decreased. 2. The value of triiodothyronine($T_3$) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, while the value of TAE-EUM-IN was decreased. 3. The value of triiodothyronine uptake($T_3$ uptake) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, but between the value of TAE-EUM-IN and SO-EUM-IN, TAE-EUM-In and SO-YANG-IN showed significant difference. 4. The value of free triiodothyronine(free $T_3$) on the constitution didn't shown signifcant difference, but between the value of TAE-EUM-IN and SO-EUM-In, TAE-EUM-In and SO-YANG-IN showed significant difference. 5. The value of thyroxine($T_4$) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, while the value of TAE-EUM-IN and SO-YANG-IN showed difference. 6. The value of free thyroxine(free $T_4$) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, but between the value of TAE-EUM-IN and SO-YANG-IN showed significant difference. 7. The value of thyroxine-binding globulin(TBG) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference. 8. The value of adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference. 9. The value of luteinizing hormone(LH) on the constitution didn't shown significant difference, but between the value of TAE-EUM-IN and SO-EUM-IN, TAE-EUM-IN and SO-YANG-IN showed significant difference. 10. The value of testosterone on the constitution didn't shown significant difference.

It was described in "Somun Jogyeongron" that Eum(Yin)-Yang' deficiency, excess and exuberance. According to "Somun Jogyeongron", It was known that the syndrome of Yang deficiency and exuberance is belong to external contraction, Eum deficiency and exuberance is belong to internal damage. The syndrome of Yang deficiency is belong to Gyejitang[contraction of wind] which constitutional weakness as the main etiological factor of deficiency conditions. The syndrome of Yang exuberance is belong to Mahwangtang[cold damage] which constitutional strong as the main etiological factor of exuberance conditions. Eum deficiency is so dysfunction of the spleen and stomach that Eum fluid and essence is not engender, distributed. So the dysfunction of spleen and stomach makes dampness-heat obstruction and then makes Internal heat at last. The syndrome of Eum deficiency is applicable to bojungikgitang. As contrasted with Eum deficiency, Eum exuberance is occurred cold-dampness obstruction, which we call 'Eum exuberance'. The syndrome of Yang exuberance is applicable to Ijungtang. In the light of "Somun Jogyongron", We explain that the syndrome of Yin deficiency and Yin exuberance, which was caused by dampness-heat, cold-dampness obstruction and internal damage based on disorder of the spleen and stomach.

The following results are obtained through study on the Three Eum and Three Yang. 1. Up to nowadays, many people confuse the Great Yang, the lesser Eum, the Great Eum, and the lesser Yang of the Sasang with the Great Yang, the lesser Yang, the Sunlight, the Great Eum, the lesser Eum, and the absolute Eum of the Three Eum and Three Yang becuase they are expressed with the same letters. But the former is the second specialization of the Eum and Yang, and the latter is the transformation of the six climate, so they cannot be the same thing, and there is no connection between them. 2. Three Eum and Three Yang is the outer expression of the six climate, which is coldness, heat, dryness, humidity, wind, and the fire, and it is the conception of the formation of objects which possess SI-JUNG-JONG & BON-JUNG-MAL, and it represents one term of the status of transformation in which the life and the Yang Qi are born, grown, united, and completed. 3. The Three Eum and Three Yang is not only applyed to the outer expression of the six climate, but also to the twelve channels which correspond with the twelve viscera, six differentiation of the disease of the cold, various illness, and the form of pulse. 4. The combination of the Three Eum and Three Yang and the twelve channels is divided into the channel of Sahwa and the channel of Jonghwa, and it also has important relationship with the physiology of the viscera. 5. The division of the six channels of disease of the cold suggested by Junggyung originates from the heat theory in Neagyung, but the six channels in the heat theory are of pathological conception, so the six channels of Junggyung includes the disease of the channels and the viscera. 6. The difference of the Pyo, Bon, Jung Qi of the Three Eum and Three Yang makes the syndrom of the disease diverse so it can be used in the diagnosis and the treatment of disease, and further studies are necessary on this part.

Objective : The concept of Eum-Fire(陰火), which was brought up by Li Dong-yuan(李東垣), is such a very ambiguous thing that many medical scholars had tried to understand its real meaning. Trying to understand the real concept of Eum-Fire, this study goes on based on the view that the concept of Eum-Fire in the medical books of Li Dong-yuan was used as being the same thing with the concept of Xim-Fire(心火) and Premier-Fire (相火), and the substance of this kind of fire is the fire in Ximpo(心包) and Myungmun (命門) which works in the system of Ximgye(心系). To verify this view is the main objective of this study. Method : Inquiring into Li Dong-yuan's medical books, this study investigated examples of the uses of the terms of Eum-Fire, Xim-Fire and Premier-Fire, and analyzed the relation between the meanings of these terms. And as a collateral evidence to the main view of this study, this study notes Wang An-dao(王安道)'s reference about Eum-Fire and inquires into the concept of Premier-Fire that was formed by Liu He-jian(劉河間), who had been referred to in Wang An-dao's argument about Eum-Fire. And this study also presents the Chen Shi-duo(陳士鐸)'s view about Eum-Fire that is expected to show a more concrete concept of Eum-Fire than now and seems to deserve to be compared with that of Li Dong-yuan. Result and Conclusion : It could be understood that the concept of Eum-Fire in Li Dong-yuan's books was used as a thing that owns the same substance as a kind of fire with Xim-Fire and Premier-Fire. In this viewpoint it could also be understood that Li Dong-yuan had attached the concepts like Xim-Fire and Eum-Fire to the concept of Premier-Fire, so terms like these could be understood as such concepts that represented the diverse figures of Premier-Fire. And this study also found that the substance of Xim-Fire as a kind of Premier-Fire means the fire of Ximpo and Myungmun that works in the system of Ximgye, which seems to be formerly introduced as a frame of Premier-Fire by Liu He-jian. This study also found the indirect basis of this viewpoint in the books of Chen Shi-duo, and could get a conclusion that Chen Shi-duo's view about Eum-Fire can be regarded as a thing that could show us more concrete matter of Eum-Fire than now.

"Eumyang-ihamnon(陰陽離合論)", from aspects of the Samjae theory[三才論], presents the unique insight for understanding dynamics of three Eum and three Yang[三陰三陽] throughout human body in fundamental level, defining purpose and essence of three Eum and three Yang motion. Furthermore, it indicates Bunbu(分部) of three Eum and three Yang, utilizing principles of Yukhap(六合), which serves as logical basis of three Eum and three Yang Byeonjeung(辨證). With theoretical meaning and practical values of "Eumyang-ihamnon(陰陽離合論)", this study investigates significance of three Eum and three Yang-Ihap-Motion in terms of the Samjae theory[三才論] and clinical uses of the three Eum and three Yang Bunbu theory[三陰三陽分部論].
