침자극이 뇌졸중 환자의 심박변이도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Acupuncture Stimulation on Heart Rate Variability in Stroke Patients)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to observe effect of acupuncture stimulation on heart rate variability in stroke patients. Methods : Data were obtained from heart rate variability of 29 stroke patients. Heart rate variability was measured total five times(before and after needle insertion, before and after needle removal, and 10 minutes after needle removal) for five minutes each time. Results : Heart rates were continuously decreased until 10 minutes after needle removal. SDNN, Total power, LF, and HF were increased until 5 minutes after needle removal, but deceased between 5 and 10 minutes after needle removal. There was no significant changes between male and female and among age groups. Conclusion : This study showed that acupuncture stimulation could effect on heart rate variability in stroke patients. Heart rate variability could be a objective tool to verify the mechanism of acupuncture effect in various condition.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of work load on heart rate variability (HRV) which is widely used marker of the autonomic nervous system activity. Average heart rate, rating of perceived exertion, and the power spectrum of heart rate variability were investigated in seven healthy males during exercise at various work loads. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the average heart rate during exercise, group 1 with lower heart rate and group 2 with higher heart rate. HF component showed decrease followed by increase with workload. Accordingly, the LF/HF ratio showed increase followed by decrease with workload. The peak in LF/HF ratio of group 1 was at the lower workload than that of group 2.

치료레크리에이션 프로그램이 화상재활환자의 정신건강 상태와 심박동 변이에 미치는 효과 (Effects of a Recreation Therapy Program on Mental Health and Heart Rate Variability in Burn Rehabilitation Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of a recreation therapy program on burn rehabilitation patients to determine if the program is an effective nursing intervention which can affect mental health problems and heart rate variability. Methods: Subjects were 54 hospitalized burn rehabilitation patients (25 in the control group, 29 in the experimental group). The experimental group participated 6 times in a recreation therapy program led by a qualified instructor. Brief symptoms inventory-18 (somatization, anxiety, depression) questionnaire, and heart rate variability were checked before and after the recreation therapy program. Results: The mental health scale showed significant differences in somatization (p<.001), anxiety (p<.001) and depression (p<.001). There was no significant difference in heart rate variability (autonomic activity, autonomic balance, stress resistance, stress parameter and fatigue, mean heart rate, electro-cardiac stability). Conclusion: The findings from this study suggest that a recreation therapy program is an effective nursing intervention to decrease the level of mental health problems of burn rehabilitation patients. However, a subsequent study is needed to develop an intervention program that will induce the effect of physiological parameters like heart rate variability (HRV).

  • Autonomic nervous system play an important role of keeping our health as balancing homeostasis. But the abnormality of these abilities makes our presence be feeble. To obtain these information of body which helps for us to decide whether one is healthy or not, based on the study of Heart Rate Variability. In this paper, we presented HRV model and its processing steps to extract some information of human body. After that, some experimental results are presented in time-domain and frequency-domain.

  • 신경심장학의 발전으로 중추신경 활성이 심장의 전기적 활동도에 미치는 영향이 밝혀지고 있고, 심박동수변이(Heart rate variability, HRV)가 정신적 스트레스와 심혈관질환의 기계적 연관성을 나타내는 중요한 지표로 제기되고 있다. HRV란 자율신경계의 정상적 상호작용에 의해 나타나는 생리적인 심박수 변동을 타나내며, 자율신경 기능을 정량화하여 측정할 수 있는 방법론이다. 분석 방법은 시간 영역 분석과 주파수 영역 분석으로 나눌 수 있으며, 측정 시간대에 따라 단기간 측정과 24시간 측정 등의 방법이 확립되어 있다. 임상적으로는 변이 정도, 교감신경과 부교감신경의 활성과 균형도를 파악하여 다양한 질환과 스트레스 등의 진단과 치료 및 예후 판정에 활용되고 있다. HRV를 이용한 바이오피드백도 최근 자율신경 관련 질환의 치료에 활용되고 있다. 향후 다양한 프로토콜의 개발과 임상적 적용이 필요할 것으로 보인다.

말초성 안면신경마비 환자에서 EMG(Electromyography)와 HRV(Heart Rate Variability)의 임상적 예후인자로서의 유용성 및 상관성 연구 (A Study of Correlation between Electromyography(EMG) and the Heart Rate Variability(HRV) Test, and Their Role as Predicting Factors for Peripheral Facial Palsy Prognosis)

  • Objectives : This study was performed in order to investigate the effectiveness of electromyography and the Heart Rate Variability(HRV) test as prognosis factors, and to clarify correlation between Electromyography and the Heart Rate Variability test. Methods : 44 Bell's palsy patients who were graded V on the House-Brackmann scale and underwent HRV and EMG testing were retrospectively reviewed based on medical records. Results from both tests were analyzed via simple linear regression, and bivariate correlation analysis was performed to investigate the correlation between results from the two tests. The severity of the facial palsy at onset and at 2 weeks after treatment were evaluated with the H-B grade and Yanagihara grading system, and was converted into improvement scores. Results : Mean axonal loss according to electromyography showed a statistically significant correlation in predicting peripheral facial palsy improvement(p<0.01). HR, SDNN, TP, LF, HF, VLF, and LF/HF ratio on the Heart Rate Variability test showed no significant correlation in predicting peripheral facial palsy improvement. Mean axonal loss determined by electromyography, and HR, SDNN, TP, LF, HF, VLF, and LF/HF ratio recorded with the Heart Rate Variability test was analyzed with the bivariate correlation analysis method. Mean axonal loss and SDNN showed a statistically significant correlation(p<0.01) Conclusions : The Heart Rate Variability test has no statistical significance in predicting peripheral facial palsy improvement. SDNN has a statistically significant correlation with mean axonal loss as determined by electromyography.

Heart Rate Variability Analysis for Significance Between Ag/AgCl Electrode and Electric Textile Sensor in Wearable Condition

  • Significance verification of electric fabric compared with existing electrode is very useful for the wearable and ubiquitous healthcare. In this paper, we verified the significance between Ag/AgCl electrode and electric fabric in dry-normal condition through heart rate variability analysis. We can find 98 % or more similarity about low frequency and high frequency which is important parameter for the heart rate variability analysis between two different electrodes in experiment. From this result, we confirmed that the power spectral density of low frequency, high frequency component from the electric fabric has high similarity compared with the result of heart rate variability from Ag/AgCl electrode in dry-normal condition.

경계(驚悸) 증상을 지닌 학생 집단의 자율 신경 기능 특성에 대한 연구 - 심박변이도와 동공크기 변이도를 중심으로 - (A study on characteristics of the autonomic nervous system in students with Keongke - Using Heart Rate Variability and Pupil Size Variability -)

  • Objective : The purpose of this experimental-controlled study was to investigate the characteristics of the autonomic nervous system in students with Keongke by using HRV(Heart rate variability) and PSV(Pupil size variability). Method : The study group was consisted of 11 students with self recognition as the experimental group, and 25 normal students as the control group. Informations on gender and age were obtained by medical charts and personal interviews. By using heart rate variability and pupil size variability, we measured the value of HRT(Heart rate), SDNN(Standard deviation of NN intervals), LFnorm(Low frequency normalization), HFnorm(High frequency normalization), LF/HF ratio, Pupil area, B.S.(Basic size), C.R.(Max Constriction Rate) and 1s.d.(1sec Dilation Rate). I compared the degrees of the sympathetic and parasympathetic activity. Result : 1. In the result of heart rate variability between experimental and control group, none of the parameters of experimental group were significantly different from control group. And even though there were no statistical significance, there were some numerical differences in SDNN, LF norm, HF norm. 2. In pupil size variability, C.R. and 1s.d. of the experimental group were increased compared to control group. Conclusion : The study results suggest that the group with Keongke has differences of autonomic nervous system as compared to those in normal state. Measurement value of PSV is a new technical approach to estimate the autonomic nervous system.

전방머리자세의 정도와 심박변이도 및 기립자세 균형요소와의 상관관계 (Correlations of Forward Head Posture to Heart Rate Variability and Standing Posture Balance Factors)

  • Objectives To investigate the relationship of forward head posture to heart rate variability and standing posture (pelvic tilt, knee flexion, calcaneal eversion). Methods In the present study, thirty two subjects were recruited by convenience sampling. The forward head posture was measured via the craniovertebral (CV) angle. The pelvic tilt angle, the knee flexion angle, the calcaneal eversion angle, and the heart rate variability were measured. The correlations of forward head posture to heart rate variability and standing posture (pelvic tilt, knee flexion, calcaneal eversion) were analyzed. Results In the present results, there was a significant negative correlation between X-ray CV angle and other regions except the headache. There was a weak positive correlation between Posture CV angle and SDNN. Significant positive correlation was found between KFA and difference between Lt. & Rt. CEA. Significant weak negative correlation was found between SDNN and difference between Lt. & Rt. CEA. Conclusions Biomechanical associated with physical pain and heart rate variability, and it is related to the forward head posture changes and also suggest that clinical care is needed for this.
