  • Yuk Gi (六氣) in oriental medicine have influence on the body and, the body which adapt itself to the change of Yuk Gi, can maintain the activity of life, so five vital organs of the body have relation to Yuk Gi. The relation between Lung and Jo (燥) is well described from Whang Jae Nai Kyung (黃帝內經), the oldest book in oriental medicine, to the old books of Chung (淸) dynasty and modern documents. By the way, when autumn has come and the environment become dry, clear and mild ability of lung is losed. It's because dryness evil (燥邪) occured the trouble of Lung. The following results were obtained according to these facts which is considreed peviodically and bibliographically. 1. According to flourishing the functional activities of dryness (燥氣), as reducing the functional activities of water (水氣) of upper portion of the body cavity (上焦), Kidny Water (腎水) is not nutrited and Fire-Heat (火熱) is activiting, which is evoking the disease of Lung. 2. In the disease of Lung, there are many diseases because of dryness evil (燥邪), thinking that, which methods of treatment are the principal one of 'Clear up the lung and moisten dryness (淸肺潤煥)'. I found that Lung and Jo (燥) have the relation of intimacy. 3. Creating the vital essence of the kidney (腎水) to the functional activities of the lung (肺氣) is in prosperous condition, the functional activities of fire (火氣) stabilize the function of Lung become normal condition which wear said in the literary.

  • Warm disease: Any of various heat disease characterizer by rapid onset and shifts, pronounced heat signs, and a tendency to form dryness and damage yin. Exterior heat sign: exterior heat patterns are characterizer by pronounced heat signs, such as a red sore pharynx and a relatively red tongue with dry fur, the pulse is floating and rapid, cough and the production of thick white or yellow phlegm. If wind-heat evil exist in weifen, it becomes exterior syndrome, and a remedy about that is dispelling wind-heat but when wind-heat evil invades in nasal and throat part so the disease occurs, you need to add relieving sore throat worsens invades in lung it makes disharmony of diffuse in lungs. So a remedy about it is diffuse the lung. disharmony of diffuse in lungs makes metabolic disorder of qi and liquid and humor malfunction therefore it occurs cough and heat-phlegm syndrome. heat from weifen invades the whole of lungs and form lung heat. So a remedy about lung heat is clearing away lung heat, this lung heat makes inevitably bleed in lungs, therefore a remedy in this case is clearing the lung to stop bleeding, or moistening the lung. Exterior heat sign means that exterior syndrome coexists with heat syndrome and it means that a remedy of this syndrome need to mix prescriptions for relieving exterior syndrome and heat-clearing prescriptions to treat this syndrome.

  • This study was investigated to make sure the range of Radix Asparagi treatment. the nature of disease. the pathology and the dosage of it in Dongeuybogam. The consequences were as follows: 1. The Radix Asparagi is used in 11 fields of treatment such as exhaustion, tussis and phlegm. blood diseases. etc 2. The Radix Asparagi is primarily used in the treatment of heart and lung disease, weak and infirm. and controlling hydrate and fever as well as tussis and phlegm. 3. The Radix Asparagi is used for nature of disease which of transmitting between sap and fever. cardiac disease caused by stress. floating fever. debility of blood, malfunction of heart and kidney. and deficiency of vitality. 4. The Radix Asparagi is used in a range of $2g{\sim}16g$ per dose with 4g being the typical dose for most treatments. 5. The Radix Asparagi is used as a fundamental prescription with several herb remedies for the pathology. The Radix Asparagi has been used to moisten the dryness and to keep the balance among fever of heart, lung, and kidney. According to the results. I suggest to use Radix Asparagi in a various pathogenic fields. The Radix Asparagi is able to use to improve not only fatigue. but also diabetes, cataract, and debility of blood.

  • Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the collagen metabolism and tyrosinase activity of Polygonati Rhizoma extracts (PR). It's effects are to tonify spleen qi and augment the spleen yin. It enrichs the yin and moisten the lung. Methods : The effect of PR on type I procollagen production and collagenase (matrix metalloproteinase-1, henceforth referred as MMP-1) activity in human normal fibroblasts Hs68 after ultraviolet B (UVB, 312 nm) irradiation was measured by ELISA method. The tyrosinase activity after treatment of PR was measured. Results : There were no cytotoxicity at concentrations of 10, 30, $100{\mu}g/ml$. The reduced type I procollagen production was recovered by PR in UVB damaged Hs68 cells at a concentration of $100{\mu}g/ml$ ($16.2{\pm}0.0$ ng/ml) from control group ($13.9{\pm}0.5$ ng/ml). However there was no statistical significance. PR reduced The increased MMP-1 activity after UVB damage at concentrations of $10{\mu}g/ml$, $30{\mu}g/ml$, and $100{\mu}g/ml$ in a dose dependent manner ($42.2{\pm}20.5%$, $44.8{\pm}8.5%$, and $22.0{\pm}5.8%$). PR $100{\mu}g/ml$ treatment showed the statistical significace (p < 0.05). PR significantly reduced the tyrosinase activity at a concentration of 10 mg/ml ($32.0{\pm}12.8%$, p < 0.05). However, the L-DOPA oxidation was not changed. Conclusion : PR showed the anti-wrinkle effects and whitening effects in vitro. Although more researches are needed to validate the efficacy, these results suggest that PR may have potential as an anti-aging ingredient in cosmetic herb markets.
