In this study, we investigated the application of oriental history of mathematics in school mathematics teaching. We set up three study problems to achieve this purpose. First, we analyze the middle and high school mathematics textbooks and auxiliary books. Second, we survey the mathematics teacher's knowledge and degree of application on history of mathematics. Third, we develop the teaching and learning materials on oriental history of mathematics. We performed three study-methods to settle above study problem. First, we analyzed 24 textbooks and auxiliary books for study problem 1. There were 6 middle school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books and also 6 high school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books. We categorized the contents into "anecdote", "systematization", "application of problem", "expansibility of thought", and "comparative of the contents". Second, we surveyed the 78 mathematics teachers's knowledge and degree of application using questionnaire about knowledge and application on history of mathematics. The questionnaire was made up of four types of question; the effect of material about history of mathematics, the understanding of western history of mathematics, the understanding of oriental history of mathematics; the direction of development of teaching material. Third, we exemplified the teaching and learning materials about three categories: "anecdote", "comparative of the contents".

Objective : The purpose of this study is to analyze for the patent application tendency in Korean Oriental Pediatric Medicine. Recently, many studies are published in Korean Oriental Pediatric Medicine. However, in the patent area, the research results are few. Method : For patent analysis, we searched the database kipris (http://www.kipris.or.kr) which managed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office by keywords about Korean Oriental Pediatrics. They are technically analysed by year and IPC, patent's contents, main applicant and organization. Results : 1. Patents by year have been on the rise 2 in 1997 to 32 in 2011. 2. Our findings are Section A61;182, A23;46 in IPC analysis 3. In classification of content, 'application-food' is 67 cases, 'application-functional cosmetic' is 18 cases, 'application-clothes' is 5 cases. 4. Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine have 14 patent cases, that is the most patent agency in possession. Main applicants are person > company > university > laboratory > state or local government. Conclusion : This study shows that it has high frequency of daily necessity in patent cases about oriental pediatrics. The results are more distributed 'applied' field than 'treatment' field. The patent information should be connected research achievement results in Korean Oriental Medicine.

Phototherapy have perpetual history, we can see an instance of it in Yellow Emperor's Conon of Medicine(黃帝內經) and Laser therapy is a field of Phototherapy being used frequently in the latest time. We treated patients with telangiectasia by laser therapy and experimented it's efficacy and studied the means of clinical application in Korean medicine. We report the capabilities of application of laser therapy, based on Korean medical theories by using resemblance between laser therapy with kyung-rak(經絡) control technique in the line that connects with the past.

Objective : The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of Autogenic Training on autonomic nervous system for normal subjects with Heart Rate Variability(HRV). Then HRV of total subjects were analyzed by Sasang constitution, MBTI type and relaxation therapy experience. Method : Autogenic Training was applied on 39 subjects individually. Then HRV was examined each 5 minutes before and after Autogenic Training application. Results : 1. Mean HRV, SDNN, SDSD were significant different in HRV between before and after Autogenic Training application in total subjects. 2. SDNN, SDSD were significant different in HRV between before and after Autogenic Training application in Soeumin. Mean HRV, SDNN, SDSD were significant different in HRV between before and after Autogenic Training application in Taeeumin. Conclusion : The results suggest that Autogenic Training application have shown anti-stress effects. Autogenic Training application to Soeumin and Taeeumin have shown more anti -stress effects than application to Soyangin.

1. Objectives : It is very important to classify people into Sasang constitution correctly in SCM. There have been many researches for this and several tools have been developed for diagnosis of Sasang constitution. In our study, we introduce a new web application for Integrated Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis (ISCD) ${\beta}$-version and algorithm on the base of face, body shape, voice and questionnaire. 2. Development : The web application of ISCD ${\beta}$-version was designed to be used easily for subject, staffs, and oriental medical doctors. For this purpose, we developed a web-application of Integrated Sasang Constitutional Diagnosis ${\beta}$-version using mysql database, tomcat web system, JSP, JAVA, and C++ languages. 3. Current State : The ISCD ${\beta}$-version could be accessed at http://210.218.196.115/SDT/login.jsp. The ISCD ${\beta}$-version consisted of 3 parts, for staffs, subject and oriental medical doctors. The system has been managed since February 2011. Currently 7 oriental hospitals have used the system and 1,439 subjects have been diagnosed by the system. 4. Conclusion and future work : Although many researchers have tried to develop a system or an algorithm for diagnosis of subject's constitution, we could have not used the system based on objective information of human body type, characters, symptoms. In this study, we describe a web application of objective diagnosis algorithm as ISCD ${\beta}$-version. This system may help an oriental medical doctors to make a decision of Sasang constitutional diagnosis easily and correctly.

Objective : It is a presentation of theoretical, clinical. historical foundation about using biofeedback in oriental medicine. Methods : We generalize definition, explanation, history and clinical application of biofeedback and study community with and clinical practice in oriental medical theory, referring to The neurofeedback book-An introduction to Basic Concepts in Applied Psychophysiology published by Michacl Thompson & Lynda Thompson Results : We acquire possibilities of application in oriental medicine as follows. 1. It is a view of treatment for the whole man not separating body and mind. 2. It make much of yin-ping-yang-bi(陰平陽秘) and spontaneous cure in the human body. 3. It make much of a curer's mental condition through dao(道). 4. It make much of a breathing corresponding to nature. 5. We make use of it in diagnosis and evaluation of disease. 6. It is psychologic treatment of self-leading. Conclusions : Biofeedback is expected that usefully applied to oriental psychotherapy of Kyungja-pyungji therapy(驚者平之療法). Oh-Ji-Sang-Seung therapy(五志相勝療法), Qigong therapy(氣功療法), Autogenic relaxation Training(自律弛緩療法) basing on oriental medical theory not separating body and mind.

Objectives: The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of Benson's Relaxation Technique on autonomic nervous system for normal subjects with Heart Rate Variability(HRV) and find out relationship with anti - stress effects. Methods: First, Benson's Relaxation Technique was applied on 5 normal subjects for three weeks. Then HRV was examined for 15 minutes Benson's Relaxation Technique application. Next, Benson's Relaxation Technique each 8 times was applied on 5 normal subjects for 1 weeks. Then :HRV was examined each 5 minutes before and after Benson's Relaxation Technique application. Results: 1. SDNN, SDSD increased continuously in HRV for three weeks Benson's Relaxation Technique application. 2. Mean HRV, SDNN, SDSD were significant different in HRV between before and after Benson's Relaxation Technique application at fourth week. Conclusion: The results suggest that Benson's Relaxation Technique application have shown anti-stress effects and the more Benson's Relaxation Technique is repeated, the more effective.

Background : Amygdalin is abundant in Armeniacae semen, and it is recently reported to treat cancers and relieve pain. But modus operandi of amygdalin at the level of neuron has not been reported, yet. Objective : This study aimed to find out the effect of amygdalin on glycine- and glutamate-induced ion currents in periaqueductal gray (PAG) neurons. And it was investigated that amygdalin participates in the regulation of the descending pain control system in the level of PAG neurons. Method : We investigated that the changes of glycine- and glutamate-induced ion currents in PAG neurons through application of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and application of amygdalin with LPS by using the nystatin-perforated patch clamp method. Result : Application of LPS on PAG neurons resulted in increased glycine-induced ion current, and in decreased glutamate-induced ion current. In contrast, application of amygdalin with LPS resulted in decreased glycine-induced ion current increased by LPS, and increased glutamate-induced ion current decreased by LPS. Conclusion : Amygdalin from Armeniacae semen controls glycine- and glutamate-induced ion current by LPS in PAG neurons, and it is suggested that amygdalin participates in the regulation of the descending pain control system in the level of PAG neurons.

Objectives : To evaluate the effect of foot orthotic in patient with chronic pain and pelvic obliquity in standing. Methods : Four cases of functional spinal scoliosis, were investigated for the changes in the calcaneal stance position angle, pelvic height, pelvic angle, Cobb's angle and walking pattern. Standing full spine X-ray for measuring the pelvic height, pelvic angle, Cobb's angle were checked before and after application of foot orthosis. The foot orthosis was composed of polyprophylen and chamude cover. Results : 1. There was no change in resting calcaneal stance position. 2. Difference of pelvic height and pelvic angle was reduced after application of a foot orthosis. 3. Cobb's angle in 2 cases was reduced after application of a foot orthosis. 4. Walking balance was improved. 5. Visual analogue scale was decreased. Conclusions : The study showed that foot orthosis seemed to be effective for chronic pain, spinal curve, pelvic obliquity and walking balance.

Objective : To review the method, parameters, system of electrogastrography and to study its oriental medical application. Method : We investigate the research results through internet search engines such as Pubmed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Conclusion : Electrogastrography is believed to be of great use to the verification of treatment effect of herbal medicine that is used in internal medicine and neuropsychiatry, along with the objectification and quantification of diagnosis of oriental medicine related to gastric peristalsis and balance of autonomic nervous system. I would therefore like to conclude that there should be continued study and active application of electrogastrography in the wide variety of oriental medicine.
